NIT Warangal, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, has released Advertisement No. MMED/SM/ARG-RS36001/JRF/ for 1 Junior Research Fellow position under an ANRF-sponsored project titled “Development of an Integrated Multi-Scale Computational Platform for Modelling Laser Additive Manufacturing Processes”. The project studies how Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) parameters affect microstructural development in aluminium alloys. There is no written exam for this post — selection happens through screening and an interview, and selected candidates also become eligible to register for a Ph.D. at NIT Warangal.

Who Can Apply?

You can qualify through any one of the following three routes:

• Route 1: B.Tech/B.E. in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, plus M.Tech/M.E. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (or related field), with 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG for GEN/OBC-NCL/GEN-EWS, or 55% aggregate or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD. GATE score is not mandatory.
• Route 2: B.Tech/B.E. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with at least 7.5 CGPA (70%) for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL, or 7.0 CGPA (65%) for SC/ST/PwD. GATE score is not mandatory.
• Route 3: M.Sc. Materials Science / B.Tech Ceramic or Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, with M.Tech in Materials Science/Metallurgy/Nanoscience and Nanotechnology/Ceramic Engineering/Surface Engineering, with 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL, or 55% aggregate or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD.

Desirable: Preference goes to candidates qualified in GATE/UGC/CSIR/INSPIRE/NET or a similar national-level exam, and those with prior experience in characterization techniques such as SEM, TEM, or XRD.

Age Limit

• The maximum age limit is 32 years.
• Age Relaxation: Age can be relaxed for candidates with relevant research experience.

Salary

• You will get Rs. 37,000 per month for the first two years and Rs. 42,000 per month in the third year.
• HRA is paid as per NIT Warangal rules, and you can also apply for on-campus hostel and mess facilities, subject to availability.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Your selection will happen in these steps:

1. Application Screening: Your Google Form submission, Bio-data/CV, and certificates are reviewed against the eligibility criteria.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are informed through the institute website, email, or phone, and attend an interview (online or offline). If it is online, you need a stable internet connection and a working camera.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
