NIT Trichy has released a notification for 1 vacancy of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) or Project Associate-I under an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) Advanced Research Grant (ARG) project titled "Threat Modelling and Data-driven Cybersecurity Solution for Networked Microgrids." The project is led by Dr. Dipanshu Naware, Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and aims to study voltage stability in networked microgrids under cyberattack scenarios such as man-in-the-middle attacks on inverter controllers, load buses, and microgrid connecting switches.

As part of the work, the team will design a data-driven cyberattack detector with topology awareness, built and tested on a laboratory-scale hardware-based cybersecurity engine. The goal is a highly discriminative anomaly detection system that can flag an attack and also help mitigate and rectify it in real time. Selected candidates also get the opportunity to register for a regular PhD program at NIT Trichy, subject to meeting the institute's eligibility criteria — a good option if you want to combine paid research work with a doctoral degree.

Who Can Apply?

Eligibility depends on whether you are considered for the JRF or Project Associate-I designation. The main difference between the two is the GATE score requirement.

For Junior Research Fellow (JRF) - Rs. 37,000-42,000/month:

• Qualification: B.E./B.Tech (First Class) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Computers Engineering, or Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering from a recognized university
• Mandatory: Valid GATE score
• Preferred: M.Tech (First Class) in Power Systems Engineering or equivalent

For Project Associate-I - Rs. 30,000-33,000/month:

• Qualification: B.E./B.Tech (First Class) in the same disciplines listed above (no GATE score required)
• Preferred: M.Tech (First Class) in Power Systems Engineering or equivalent

Only candidates who have already been awarded their Degree or Provisional Certificate can apply.

Age Limit

• For JRF, you should be below 32 years old as on the closing date of the advertisement.
• For Project Associate-I, you should be below 35 years old as on the closing date of the advertisement.
• Age Relaxation: As per Government of India norms for reserved categories.

Salary

• If selected as JRF (with a valid GATE score): Rs. 37,000 per month + HRA for the first 2 years, rising to Rs. 42,000 per month + HRA in the 3rd year after a satisfactory performance review.
• If selected as Project Associate-I (without GATE score): Rs. 30,000 per month + HRA for the first 2 years, rising to Rs. 33,000 per month + HRA in the 3rd year.
• The project appointment is initially for 1 year, extendable up to 3 years based on your performance and the project's duration.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this post. Selection is based on:

1. Shortlisting: Based on your GATE score, percentage of marks in your qualifying degree, and relevant experience.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an offline interview at NIT Trichy. Only shortlisted candidates are informed by email.
3. Document Verification: You must bring original certificates (educational qualifications, category, age proof, GATE score) for verification at the time of the interview.

No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview, and you must arrange your own stay and travel to NIT Trichy.
