National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra (NIT Kurukshetra) Adjunct Faculty Recruitment 2026
National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra (NIT Kurukshetra) has invited applications from Indian nationals for the engagement of Adjunct Faculty in its Chemistry Department. This is a rolling advertisement with no fixed number of posts — applications are accepted throughout the year and reviewed periodically. The current cycle (third round) closes on 31 August 2026, and any application received after this date is automatically carried forward to the next round. The Institute is looking for accomplished professionals whose association can add real value to its academic programs, students, and the Chemistry Department.
Adjunct positions like this let NIT Kurukshetra bring working scientists, industry experts, and senior academicians into its classrooms without a full-time appointment. Note that the number and nature of posts may change at the time of selection, and the Institute reserves the right not to fill any position.
Who Can Apply?
- Specialization: Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, or Physical Chemistry
- Experience: Normally at least 10 years of relevant experience is expected. If you work in an emerging or cutting-edge technology area, 5 or more years of experience can also be considered.
- Eligible background: Serving or retired scientists, engineers, physicians, professionals, academicians, practitioners (advocates, artists, bankers), policymakers, civil servants (IAS/IPS), and officials from Central/State Government, PSUs, R&D organisations, statutory bodies, or reputed overseas academic and industrial organisations can apply.
- You must be comparable to at least the top one-third of the Institute's regular faculty in professional expertise and reputation in your own field.
- A postgraduate or Ph.D. degree is not compulsory if your domain knowledge and professional standing are strong enough, especially if you come from industry or a research organisation.
- Industry or research experience should be from Government/Public Enterprise/National Laboratory; private industry experience is considered only if the company is incorporated under the Indian Companies Act.
- If you currently work in a Government/Autonomous Body/PSU, apply through proper channel and carry a No Objection Certificate to the interview.
Salary
- If engaged as Adjunct Professor, the honorarium ceiling is Rs. 1,80,000 per month (or Rs. 8,000 per day / Rs. 2,000 per hour).
- If engaged as Adjunct Fellow, the honorarium ceiling is Rs. 1,20,000 per month (or Rs. 6,000 per day / Rs. 1,500 per hour).
- This is an honorarium-based engagement, not a regular salaried post, so no additional allowances apply.
Selection Process
The selection will be done in the following stages:
- Eligibility Screening: The Institute checks your qualifications and experience. Meeting the minimum criteria does not automatically entitle you to an interview call — shortlisting criteria may be higher than advertised and can vary by department.
- Presentation and Interview: Shortlisted candidates appear for a presentation and interview before the Selection Committee, at their own cost, on a date notified separately.
- Document Verification: You must bring all original certificates for verification at the time of interview.
- Medical Examination: You must be found medically fit by the Institute's Medical Officer before joining.
No TA/DA is paid for attending the presentation or interview. Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
