National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, has released Advertisement No. NIOT/E&P/02/2026 (Project). The notice covers Project Engineer-I, Project Engineering Associate, Technical Associate, Project Engineering Assistant and Project Administration Assistant posts on contract basis for consultancy projects. No separate call letter will be issued, so candidates should note the fixed selection schedule in July 2026.

The posts are project-specific and do not create any right to permanent appointment at NIOT. Most technical roles involve field travel, coastal surveys, scientific cruises, site work or laboratory operations. Who Can Apply?

Engineering and Technical Posts

• Project Engineer-I: You need B.E./B.Tech with at least 60% marks in the notified discipline. M.E./M.Tech is desirable for engineering streams.
• Technical Associate-II: You need B.E./B.Tech with 60% marks in CS/IT/Data Science/AI/Software/Informatics and 2 years of relevant experience.
• Technical Associate-I: You need B.E./B.Tech ECE/E&I or M.Sc Zoology/Marine Science, depending on the post.
• Project Engineering Assistant: You need a Diploma in ECE/E&I with 60% marks; B.E./B.Tech is desirable.

Science and Administration Posts

• Project Engineering Associate: You need M.Sc Marine Biology/Marine Science with 60% marks and 4 years R&D experience, or a Ph.D in Marine Biology/Marine Science.
• Project Administration Assistant: You need any degree. Working experience of 2 years in an organisation of repute and computer knowledge are desirable.
• Nationality: You must be a citizen of India.

Age Limit

• 35 years: Project Engineer-I, Technical Associate-II and Technical Associate-I posts.
• 40 years: Project Engineering Associate.
• 50 years: Project Engineering Assistant and Project Administration Assistant.
• Age cut-off: Age, qualification and experience are counted as on the closing date for online application, 25 June 2026.
• Age relaxation: OBC, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-servicemen relaxation will apply as per Central Government rules.

Salary

• Project Engineer-I: Rs. 56,000 + HRA per month.
• Project Engineering Associate: Rs. 42,000 + HRA per month.
• Technical Associate-II: Rs. 35,000 + HRA per month.
• Technical Associate-I: Rs. 31,000 + HRA per month.
• Project Engineering Assistant / Project Administration Assistant: Rs. 20,000 + HRA per month.
• The pay is fixed throughout the project tenure. No TA/DA will be paid for attending written test, skill test or interview.

Selection Process

NIOT has already fixed the written test, skill test and interview schedule. Candidates must attend on the date and time shown for their post.

2. Interview: Project Engineer, Project Engineering Associate and Technical Associate posts are scheduled for interview.
3. Written / Skill Test: Project Engineering Assistant has written / skill test. Project Administration Assistant has a written test.
4. Screening Test if Needed: If many candidates report, NIOT may conduct a screening test before interview.
5. Document Verification: You must produce original certificates uploaded in the online portal at the time of selection.
