NIMHANS JRF (ANRF-Funded) Recruitment 2026
National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru — one of India's premier institutes in mental health and neurosciences — is filling one Junior Research Fellow position on a contract basis. The project is funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), the country's apex body for science and engineering research. You will work under Dr. Pardeep Kumar, Additional Professor of Radiochemistry and Principal Investigator, whose research focuses on radiopharmaceutical synthesis and PET molecular imaging in the Department of Neuroimaging & Interventional Radiology (NIIR). Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: BE / B.Tech, ME / M.Tech, or M.Sc from any recognised university or board. Candidates should have relevant subject background suitable for radiochemistry or molecular imaging research.
- GATE/NET: GATE or NET qualification is desirable as per ANRF JRF norms and may affect stipend level.
- Nature of Work: Contract position co-terminus with the ANRF-funded research project. No guarantee of regular employment.
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 35 years as on 17 April 2026.
- Age relaxation for reserved categories as per ANRF/Government of India norms.
Salary
- Stipend: Rs. 37,000 per month for the first two years (as per ANRF JRF norms, revised from January 2023).
- Plus 20% House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per ANRF norms.
- Stipend may increase to Rs. 42,000 per month + 20% HRA from the third year, subject to performance and project requirements.

Responsibilities
- Assist in the synthesis and radiolabelling of radiopharmaceuticals for PET molecular imaging research
- Conduct laboratory experiments related to the ANRF-funded research project under the PI's guidance
- Maintain accurate records of experimental data, lab protocols, and safety procedures
- Prepare reports, presentations, and contribute to manuscript writing for the research project
- Handle and maintain laboratory equipment, chemicals, and radioisotope materials as per safety norms
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including radiologists, nuclear medicine specialists, and biochemists
- Follow all institutional biosafety and radiation safety guidelines strictly
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
BE / B.Tech, ME / M.Tech, or M.Sc from a recognised university
Preferred Qualification
GATE or NET qualified candidates preferred as per ANRF norms
Required Skills
Knowledge of chemistry, radiochemistry, or related fields; laboratory research skills
Age Limit
18 - 35 years (as on 17 Apr 2026)

Pay Scale
ANRF JRF stipend: Rs. 37,000/month + 20% HRA (first 2 years); Rs. 42,000/month + 20% HRA (from 3rd year)

There is no written examination for this position. Selection is based on:
