The programme links NIH with startups, small businesses and other partners who are building new solutions for the water sector. All the posts are short-term project engagements. One Consultant post is based at the R&D wing of the National Water Mission (NWM) in New Delhi, while the rest are on the NIH campus in Roorkee, Uttarakhand. If you work in water resources, programme management, software development or digital media and want a foothold in a central government research institute, this drive has a role for you.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Consultant – Water Resources and Technical Coordination: for postgraduates in water resources, hydrology, civil or environmental engineering; posted at R&D, NWM, New Delhi. Exposure to the private sector, startups, MSMEs, consultancy or technology projects is a plus.
  • Consultant – Open Call and Programme Management: for postgraduates in management, engineering, science or water resources with a project-management background; posted at NIH Roorkee. Work with government programmes, hackathons or startup initiatives helps.
  • Young Professional – Full Stack Development and Database Management: for computer science, IT or computer applications graduates; posted at NIH Roorkee.
  • Young Professional – Social Media and Digital Content: for graduates in mass communication, journalism, digital media or graphic design; posted at NIH Roorkee.

Post-wise Duties

Consultant – Water Resources and Technical Coordination

You will give technical support for reviewing studies under NWM, assess technical proposals, and coordinate with NIH, startups, MSMEs and other partners to build and roll out new water-sector solutions.

Consultant – Open Call and Programme Management

You will run the overall Open Call: processing proposals, staying in touch with applicants and reviewers, organising evaluations, and handling monitoring and reporting.

Young Professional – Full Stack Development and Database Management

You will build, maintain and update the Bharat WIN portal and its mobile apps, covering the front-end, back-end, APIs, databases and UI/UX, and give related technical support.

Young Professional – Social Media and Digital Content

You will manage NIH's social media and digital outreach, creating graphics, infographics, videos and presentations for the Open Call, the hackathon and other NIH events.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Tenure: Each post runs for five months, until March 2027, and may be extended case by case depending on the job and its timeline.
  • Co-terminus and temporary: The engagement gives no claim to any NIH post, and the institute can end it at any time without giving a reason.
  • Full-time only: You cannot take up any other assignment while working with NIH.
  • No extra perks: There is no dearness allowance, residential telephone, transport facility or personal staff.
  • Accommodation: You may get transit accommodation under NIH rules on payment of licence fee, and must vacate it when your tenure ends.
