CSIR-CSMCRI Project Associate-I Recruitment 2026: Overview

CSIR - Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSIR-CSMCRI) in Bhavnagar, Gujarat is hiring Project Associate-I (PAT-I) staff for a CSIR-funded mission-mode project called "Region Specific Smart Agrotech" (MMP025303). The project sits at the meeting point of chemistry, soil science and data, so the lab wants people who can handle organic synthesis, soil sample analysis and data analysis.

This is a temporary project position, not a permanent CSIR job. The engagement runs for about one year and ends with the project. It is a good fit if you have a fresh M.Sc in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Agriculture or Botany, or a B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering or Biotechnology, and want hands-on research experience at a national lab.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Two pay slabs: The higher slab is only for candidates who have cleared CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET (including lectureship), GATE, or a similar national-level exam run by DBT/DST or other central agencies. Everyone else is paid the lower slab, and HRA is added as applicable.
• Tenure: The post is co-terminus with the project. Your total project engagement across CSIR-CSMCRI and other CSIR labs cannot go beyond six years.
• No claim to absorption: Working on this project gives you no right to extension or a regular job at CSIR-CSMCRI.
• Age reference date: The notice counts age as on the last date for receiving emailed applications, but the age clause prints 20/10/2026 while the email deadline is later. If you are close to the age cut-off, confirm with the institute before applying.
• Vacancies can change: The number of posts is provisional, and the Director may cancel some or all of them at any stage.
• Name consistency: Make sure your name and your parents' names match across every document. A mismatch can lead to cancellation at any stage.
• No travel allowance: You get no TA/DA for attending the interview.
