The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is filling 15 Staff Car Driver (Grade-II) posts on a deputation basis at its offices across India. If you are a serving Central or State Government/Union Territory employee holding an analogous driver post, or have 9 years of regular service in the required pay band, you can apply through your parent department. The post carries Level-4 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (pre-revised Pay Band-1 Rs. 5,200-20,200 plus Grade Pay Rs. 2,400). Applications are accepted on a continuous basis until all vacancies are filled.
Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Staff Car Driver (Grade-II) Recruitment 2026 - 15 Posts
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is India's apex drug law enforcement agency, responsible for coordinating action against drug trafficking under the NDPS Act. It has issued a vacancy circular to fill 15 Staff Car Driver (Grade-II) posts on deputation basis. These are Group C, Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial posts spread across NCB zonal and regional offices in nearly thirty cities. Only serving government employees are eligible for these posts — this is not a direct open recruitment for freshers or private-sector candidates. Officials from Central Government, State Government, or Union Territory administration who meet the eligibility norms can apply through proper channel. The number of vacancies is subject to increase or decrease based on departmental requirements, and selected candidates must be ready to serve anywhere in India.
These vacancies exist at NCB offices in Delhi, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Agartala, Imphal, Itanagar, Siliguri, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jammu, Srinagar, Cochin, Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam, Mumbai, Bangalore, Goa, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Indore, Jodhpur and Jaipur. Selected drivers may be posted at any of these locations, and applicants must be willing to serve anywhere in India.
Who Can Apply?
- Basic Eligibility: You must be a serving Central Government, State Government, or Union Territory employee — this post is not open to candidates outside government service.
- Option A: You are already holding an analogous Staff Car Driver post on a regular basis in your parent cadre or department.
- Option B: You have 9 years of regular service in the pay band of Rs. 5,200-20,200 plus Grade Pay Rs. 1,900 in your parent cadre or department.
- Documents: Your application must be routed through your employer along with your APAR grading, integrity certificate, and vigilance clearance (see Required Documents below).
- On Selection: If you are selected, your parent department will relieve you immediately so that you can join NCB on deputation basis.
Age Limit
- You should not be more than 56 years old as on the closing date of receipt of application.
Salary
- This post carries Level-4 of the Pay Matrix as per the 7th Central Pay Commission, corresponding to the pre-revised Pay Band-1 (Rs. 5,200-20,200) plus Grade Pay Rs. 2,400.
- This is a Group C, Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post.
- You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government rules.
Selection Process (Deputation Basis - No Written Exam)
There is no written test or interview stated in the circular. Selection is based on document screening:
- Application Forwarding: Your parent department reviews your Curriculum Vitae and forwards it through proper channel.
- Document Screening: NCB checks your APAR grading, integrity certificate, vigilance clearance, and service record.
- Selection: Eligible candidates are picked for the deputation tenure based on suitability and availability of vacancies.
The deputation terms are governed by the Department of Personnel & Training's OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt.(Pay II) dated 17 June 2010, OM No. 2/6/2016-Estt.(Pay-II) dated 17 February 2016, and the MHA Police-II Division Policy Guidelines No. I-20122/03/2016-Pers.II dated 22 November 2016, as amended from time to time. The deputation period is normally up to 3 years, including any period of deputation in another ex-cadre post immediately before this appointment, and it can be extended up to 7 years subject to suitability and performance. No further extension is granted beyond this limit.

Responsibilities
- Drive official vehicles safely for NCB officers and staff
- Maintain the assigned vehicle's cleanliness, fuel level, and basic upkeep
- Keep the vehicle's logbook and maintenance records updated
- Follow traffic rules and NCB transport guidelines at all times
- Report any mechanical issues or accidents to the transport officer immediately
- Assist with document delivery and other transport-related tasks as assigned
- Be available for outstation duty and extended hours when required
