IAF Agniveervayu Musician Recruitment 2026

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is recruiting Agniveervayu (Musician) personnel under Intake 01/2027 through an all-India pre-registered recruitment rally. If you have passed Matriculation/10th and can play a musical instrument, you can apply online. Registration is open from 20 July 2026 to 2 August 2026. The starting Agniveer package is Rs. 30,000 per month, rising to Rs. 40,000 per month by the fourth year.

Indian Air Force (IAF) Agniveervayu Musician Recruitment 2026 - Intake 01/2027

The Indian Air Force has opened its pre-registered recruitment rally for Agniveervayu (Musician) Intake 01/2027, inviting unmarried male and female candidates from every district of India. Selected candidates join the Air Force Band and get trained to play military and ceremonial music alongside standard military training. No college degree is required — a 10th pass certificate plus musical proficiency is enough to apply. The rally itself, covering the Physical Fitness Test, English Written Test, Music Proficiency Test and Medical Examination, will be held from 31 August 2026 to 9 September 2026 at New Delhi and Bengaluru.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have passed Matriculation/10th (or equivalent) with minimum pass marks from a recognised Central, State or UT Board.
• Musical Ability: You need proficiency in music with correct tempo, pitch and singing, and must be able to play at least one instrument from List A (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Euphonium, Bass/Tuba) or List B (Keyboard, Guitar, Violin/Viola, Percussion/Drums, Indian Classical Instruments). Proficiency in two instruments, one from each list, is desirable.
• Musical Experience Certificate: You need Grade 5 or above from a recognised music institute, OR a diploma in Hindustani/Carnatic classical music, OR a certificate of participation/award in music events.
• Marital Status: Only unmarried male and female candidates can apply, and you must stay unmarried through the 4-year engagement period.

Age Limit

• You must be born between 1 January 2005 and 1 July 2009 (both dates inclusive).
• If you clear all stages of selection, your age at the time of enrolment should not exceed 22 years.

Salary

• Selected candidates get an Agniveer package starting at Rs. 30,000 per month in the first year, rising to Rs. 40,000 per month by the fourth year.
• You get 70% in hand every month, while the remaining 30% goes into your Agniveer Corpus Fund, matched equally by the Government.
• You also get Risk and Hardship Allowance, Dress and Travel Allowance, plus ration, clothing, accommodation and Leave Travel Concession (LTC).
• On completing 4 years, you get a lump sum Seva Nidhi package of about Rs. 10.04 lakh, and a non-contributory life insurance cover of Rs. 48 lakh during your service.
• You get 30 days of annual leave per year, plus medical treatment at Air Force hospitals and CSD (canteen) facilities during your engagement.
• After 4 years, up to 25% of each Agniveervayu batch may be selected to join the regular Air Force cadre as Airman based on performance; there is no automatic right to further enrolment, and Agniveervayu are not entitled to Ex-Servicemen (ESM) status.

Physical Standards

Height and Chest

• Male candidates: minimum height 162 cm; minimum chest 77 cm with at least 5 cm expansion.
• Female candidates: minimum height 152 cm (147 cm for North East/hilly Uttarakhand domicile, 150 cm for Lakshadweep domicile); minimum 5 cm chest expansion.

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

• 1.6 km run: Male candidates within 7 minutes, female candidates within 8 minutes.
• PFT-II (Male): 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups and 20 squats, each within 1 minute.
• PFT-II (Female): 10 sit-ups within 1 minute 30 seconds and 15 squats within 1 minute.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in these stages:

1. Verification of Eligibility: Your educational certificates and documents are checked at the rally venue before the Physical Fitness Test.
2. Physical Fitness Test (PFT-I & II): Includes a 1.6 km run, push-ups, sit-ups and squats.
3. English Written Test: 30 questions in 30 minutes, based on Matriculation/10th CBSE syllabus. You must qualify in this paper.
4. Music Proficiency Test (MPT): Tests your skill in playing your chosen musical instrument(s).
5. Medical Examination: Conducted in September 2026 at Air Force hospitals as per IAF medical standards.

How to Apply

1. Go to the official CASB portal at iafrecruitment.edcil.co.in.
2. Register with your email ID and mobile number, and verify both with OTP.
3. Log in and fill in your personal, communication and qualification details.
4. Upload your photograph, signature and left thumb impression as per the specified format.
5. Pay the application fee of Rs. 100 plus 18% GST online.
6. Submit the form and take a printout of your application for the rally.
