The Indian Air Force (IAF) is inviting online applications from unmarried Indian male and female candidates for Agniveervayu Intake 02/2027 under the Agnipath Scheme. If you have passed 10+2 / Intermediate (with Physics, Maths and English, or in any stream), you can apply online. Registration is open from 06 July 2026 to 26 July 2026, and the online exam will be held on 22-23 September 2026. You will start with an Agniveer package of Rs. 30,000 per month for a four-year engagement.

Indian Air Force (IAF) Agniveervayu Intake 02/2027 Recruitment 2026

Under the new HR method of the Agnipath Scheme, the Indian Air Force is recruiting young men and women as Agniveervayu for a four-year engagement to experience the military way of life. Vacancies are allotted state-wise, and selection is done on merit through an online test, physical fitness test and medical examination. Up to 25% of each Agniveervayu batch may later be selected into the regular cadre of the IAF as Airmen based on performance. This is a great chance for 10+2 pass candidates to join the Indian Air Force.

Who Can Apply?

For Science Subjects

  • Passed 10+2 / Intermediate with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% in English, OR
  • A 3-year Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile/Computer Science/Instrumentation/IT) with 50% aggregate and 50% in English, OR
  • A 2-year Vocational Course with Physics and Maths as non-vocational subjects, with 50% aggregate and 50% in English

For Other than Science Subjects

  • Passed 10+2 / Intermediate in any stream with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% in English, OR
  • A 2-year Vocational Course with 50% aggregate and 50% in English

Other Requirements

  • Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible. You must not marry during the 4-year engagement period.
  • Female candidates must also undertake not to get pregnant during the engagement period.
  • You must choose a domicile category (state/UT) at the time of registration, as vacancies and merit lists are prepared state-wise.

Age Limit

  • You must be born between 01 July 2005 and 01 January 2010 (both dates included).
  • If you clear all stages, your age on the date of enrolment should not be more than 22 years.

Salary

  • 1st Year: Rs. 30,000 per month (Rs. 21,000 in hand)
  • 2nd Year: Rs. 33,000 per month
  • 3rd Year: Rs. 36,500 per month
  • 4th Year: Rs. 40,000 per month
  • You also get Risk & Hardship, Dress and Travel allowances, plus ration, clothing, accommodation and LTC as per rules.
  • On completing 4 years, you get a Seva Nidhi package of about Rs. 10.04 lakh (your contribution + matching government contribution, excluding interest).
  • A non-contributory life insurance cover of Rs. 48 lakh is provided during the engagement period.

Physical and Medical Standards

For Male Candidates

  • Minimum height: 152 cm
  • Minimum chest: 77 cm with at least 5 cm expansion

For Female Candidates

  • Minimum height: 152 cm (147 cm for North East/hilly Uttarakhand, 150 cm for Lakshadweep)
  • Chest expansion: minimum 5 cm

You should have normal hearing, a healthy set of teeth (minimum 14 dental points) and meet IAF visual standards. Candidates with a history of LASIK/PRK are not accepted.

Selection Process

The selection is done in three phases:

  1. Phase-I — Online Test: Objective type. Science Subjects test (Physics, Maths, English) is 60 minutes; Other than Science (English + Reasoning & General Awareness) is 45 minutes; both together is 85 minutes. 1 mark for each correct answer and 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer. Marks are normalised and shortlisting is state-wise.
  2. Phase-II — Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Adaptability Tests: 1.6 km run (within 7 minutes for males, 8 minutes for females), followed by push-ups/sit-ups/squats, then Adaptability Test-I and II.
  3. Phase-III — Medical Examination: Conducted by the Air Force Medical Team as per IAF standards.

A state-wise Provisional Select List (PSL) is prepared based on Phase-II performance and state vacancies.

Exam Pattern

The Phase-I online test is objective type and bilingual (English & Hindi, except the English paper). The pattern depends on the subjects you choose:

  • Science Subjects: Physics, Mathematics and English (as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus) — 60 minutes
  • Other than Science Subjects: English (10+2 CBSE) and Reasoning & General Awareness (RAGA) — 45 minutes
  • Both together: Physics, Maths, English and RAGA — 85 minutes

Marking: You get 1 mark for each correct answer, 0 marks for unattempted questions, and 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer.

Note: Marks are normalised across exam sessions, and shortlisting for Phase-II is done state-wise. You must qualify each paper individually.
