The Indian Air Force (IAF) is holding an Open Recruitment Rally to enroll unmarried candidates as Agniveervayu (Other Than Science Subjects) for Intake 01/2027. The rally will be held at Chumoukedima (Nagaland) and Sri Vijaya Puram (Andaman & Nicobar Islands) from 31 August to 7 September 2026. You can apply if you have passed 12th/Intermediate (any stream) with at least 50% marks in aggregate and 50% in English, and hold permanent domicile of the eligible North-East states or the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The Agniveer package starts at Rs. 30,000 per month, rising to Rs. 40,000 by the fourth year.

The Indian Air Force has invited unmarried Indian male and female candidates to appear in an Open Recruitment Rally to join as Agniveervayu under the Agnipath scheme. This particular rally is open only to candidates with permanent domicile of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland or Tripura (for the Chumoukedima venue), or the Andaman & Nicobar Islands (for the Sri Vijaya Puram venue). No prior online registration is needed — eligible candidates simply report to the rally venue with original documents on their scheduled date. Selected Agniveervayu will serve a 4-year engagement period in the Indian Air Force, with up to 25% of each batch offered regular cadre enrollment as Airman based on performance.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: Passed Intermediate/10+2/Equivalent Examination in any stream/subjects with a minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% in English.
  • OR passed a 2-year Vocational Course with the same percentage requirements.
  • OR passed a 3-year Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile/Computer Science/Instrumentation Technology/IT) with 50% aggregate and 50% in English.
  • Marital Status: Only unmarried candidates (male and female) can apply, and you must remain unmarried during the entire 4-year engagement period.
  • Domicile: You must hold permanent domicile of the specific States/UTs covered by your chosen rally venue (see above), verified with a Domicile Certificate from a Gazetted Revenue Officer. Children of serving/retired Air Force personnel (COAFP) can also apply irrespective of domicile, with the required certificate.

Age Limit

  • You must be born between 1 January 2005 and 1 July 2009 (both dates inclusive) to appear in this rally.
  • If you clear all stages of selection, your age on the date of enrolment should not exceed 22 years.

Salary

  • You will get an Agniveer package of Rs. 30,000 per month in Year 1, rising with a fixed yearly increment to Rs. 40,000 per month by Year 4.
  • Your in-hand pay is 70% of the package (Rs. 21,000 to Rs. 28,000 per month); the remaining 30% goes into your Agniveer Corpus Fund with matching Government contribution.
  • On completing your 4-year engagement, you get a tax-free Seva Nidhi exit package of about Rs. 10.04 Lakhs.
  • You also get Risk & Hardship allowances, Dress and Travel allowances, ration, clothing, accommodation, and Leave Travel Concession (LTC) as per IAF rules.
  • You get a non-contributory Life Insurance cover of Rs. 48 Lakhs for the duration of your engagement. Note: Agniveervayu are not entitled to Provident Fund, gratuity or pension.

Physical Standards

For Male Candidates:

  • Height: Minimum 152 cm
  • Chest: Minimum 77 cm, with at least 5 cm expansion
  • 1.6 Km Run: Within 7 minutes
  • 10 Push-ups, 10 Sit-ups and 20 Squats, each within 1 minute

For Female Candidates:

  • Height: Minimum 152 cm (147 cm for North East/hilly Uttarakhand ethnicity, 150 cm for Lakshadweep ethnicity)
  • Chest expansion: Minimum 5 cm
  • 1.6 Km Run: Within 8 minutes
  • 10 Sit-ups within 1.5 minutes and 15 Squats within 1 minute

Visual Standards: 6/12 in each eye, correctable to 6/6; Hypermetropia up to +2.0D, Myopia up to -1D (including ±0.50D Astigmatism). Hearing: You must be able to hear a forced whisper from 6 metres in each ear. Dental: Minimum 14 dental points, with no fixed orthodontic appliances.

Selection Process

The selection at the rally happens in these stages:

  1. Verification of Eligibility: Your original educational certificates, domicile proof and other documents are checked before the Physical Fitness Test.
  2. Physical Fitness Test (PFT): A 1.6 Km run followed by push-ups, sit-ups and squats (see Physical Standards above).
  3. Written Test: An objective-type test on the same day (see Exam Pattern below).
  4. Adaptability Test-I and Adaptability Test-II: These check your suitability and adaptability for military life.
  5. Medical Examination: Conducted in September at designated Medical Boarding Centres.
  6. Provisional Select List (PSL) and Enrolment: Final selection is based on state-wise merit, subject to medical fitness and vacancy availability.

How to Apply

  1. Check that you meet the domicile, age and educational qualification criteria for your chosen rally venue.
  2. Collect your original educational certificates, domicile certificate, 10 recent passport-size colour photographs, Aadhaar card, and other required documents.
  3. Fill and carry the Consent Form for the Physical Fitness Test and medical tests (available on the CASB portal).
  4. Report directly at your rally venue — Chumoukedima (Nagaland) or Sri Vijaya Puram (Andaman & Nicobar Islands) — by 10 AM on your scheduled reporting date.
  5. There is no online application or fee for this Open Recruitment Rally — it works on a direct walk-in basis.

  • Support ground operations and assigned technical/non-technical duties within the Indian Air Force
  • Maintain discipline and follow military protocols during training and service
  • Assist with day-to-day administrative, logistics and operational tasks at the assigned Air Force unit
  • Undergo military and skill-based training as directed by the Air Force
  • Perform duties in any part of the country, in any climate or terrain, as required
  • Maintain physical fitness standards throughout the engagement period

Exam Pattern

The written test is objective type and bilingual (English & Hindi, except the English paper). You get 45 minutes to answer 50 questions in total.

Subject-wise Breakdown

  • English: 20 questions (as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus)
  • Reasoning & General Awareness (RAGA): 30 questions

Marking Scheme: You get 1 mark for every correct answer, 0 marks for unattempted questions, and 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer. You must qualify in each paper separately.

Exam Language: English and Hindi (bilingual, except the English paper)
