Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) Railway Manager Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The post of Railway Manager at Mumbai Port Authority fell vacant on 2 July 2026 and is being filled through the composite method — first by absorption from officers of other Major Port Authorities, then by deputation from other government organizations, and only as a last resort by direct recruitment. A Railway Manager is responsible for the port's internal railway network, which is used to move cargo, wagons and rolling stock between docks, yards and sidings in coordination with Indian Railways. This is a senior Class-I management post, not an entry-level government job, and this specific notice invites applications only from eligible and willing officers of the Major Port Authorities.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: A degree from a recognized university.
• Experience (for direct recruitment): 12 years of executive experience in shipping/cargo operations or railway transportation in the executive cadre of an industrial, commercial or government undertaking.
• For absorption: You should hold an analogous post or the post of Deputy Railway Manager (or equivalent) in the Traffic Department of a Major Port Trust, in the pay scale of Rs. 13,000-18,250, with 3 years of regular service in that grade.
• For deputation: Officers holding analogous posts or Deputy Railway Manager (or equivalent) posts in the Traffic Department of a Government, Semi-Government, PSU or Autonomous body, with 3 years of regular service, are also eligible.

Age Limit

• The maximum age limit is 42 years, applicable only for the direct recruitment route.
• Age limit does not apply to candidates applying through absorption or deputation.

Salary

• The post carries a pay scale of Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 2,20,000 per month (pre-revised Rs. 16,000-400-20,800).
• You will also get allowances as applicable to Major Port Authority officers of this grade.

Selection Process

1. Screening: Your application is screened against the eligibility criteria listed in Annexure I of the recruitment circular.
2. Merit Assessment: Selection is by merit, based on your Annual Performance Appraisal Report (APAR) grading for the last 5 years. Your overall grading must not be below "Very Good".
3. Vigilance and Administrative Clearance: Your vigilance status and administrative clearance from your current port are verified before final selection.

Note: If you withdraw your candidature after being selected by the Services Selection Committee, you will be barred from selection to Deputy HoD level posts across all Major Port Authorities for 2 years.

3. Attach your APARs for the last 5 years, a year-wise APAR availability statement, certificates of qualification and experience, a No Objection Certificate, an undertaking not to withdraw candidature, Administrative Clearance, a Vigilance Report and 2 passport size photographs.
4. Submit the hard copy of your OAP-uploaded application through your administrative Port for onward transmission to Mumbai Port Authority.
