Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) Railway Manager Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA), which works under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has released a notice for filling 1 Railway Manager post. The position fell vacant on 2 July 2026 and will be filled by absorption through the composite method from officers already working across all Major Port Authorities in India. India has 12 Major Port Authorities operating under the Major Port Authorities Act, and this vacancy is open to eligible officers from any of them, not just Mumbai. This is not an open recruitment for the general public — only officers already serving in Major Ports who meet the eligibility criteria set out in Annexure I of the notification can apply. Selection is based on merit, and your Annual Performance Appraisal Report (APAR) grading for the last five years should not be below "Very Good".

Mumbai Port Authority, formerly known as Mumbai Port Trust, is one of India's oldest and busiest major ports and functions as part of the government's port-led development push under the Sagarmala programme. The Railway Manager at MbPA is a senior-level charge responsible for the port's internal rail network, which moves cargo between ship berths, warehouses and the national railway system. Because this is a Dy. HoD-level absorption post, the Ministry requires candidates to route their application through their own administrative Port rather than apply directly, so that service records and clearances can be verified before forwarding.

Who Can Apply?

• Eligibility: Only serving officers of Major Port Authorities across India who meet the qualification and experience criteria set out in Annexure I of the notification can apply.
• Selection Basis: Your overall grading in the APARs for the last 5 years should be "Very Good" or above.
• Crucial Date: Your eligibility (age, qualification and experience) will be assessed as on 3 September 2026, the last date for closing of applications.
• This post is filled through absorption/composite method, not direct recruitment — freshers and candidates outside Major Port Authorities are not eligible.

Salary

• The selected officer will get a pay scale of Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 2,20,000 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection for this post is based on merit and service record, not a written exam:

1. Eligibility Screening: Your application and educational/experience certificates are checked against the criteria in Annexure I.
2. APAR Review: Your Annual Performance Appraisal Reports for the last 5 years (2020-21 to 2024-25) are reviewed — your overall grading must be "Very Good" or above.
3. Vigilance and Administrative Clearance: Your vigilance report and administrative clearance from your current Port are checked.
4. Selection by Services Selection Committee: The final selection is made by the Services Selection Committee based on merit.

Note: If you withdraw your candidature after being selected, you will be barred from future selection to Dy. HoD level posts in all Major Port Authorities for 2 years.

How to Apply

1. Go to the Online Application Portal (OAP) of the Ministry of Shipping at onlinevacancy.shipmin.nic.in.
2. Fill in and submit your application online between 4 August 2026 and 3 September 2026. Applications submitted any other way will not be accepted.
3. Take a printout of your submitted application.
4. Attach certified copies of your APARs for the last 5 years, a year-wise APAR availability statement, attested educational and experience certificates, an NOC from your Port, an undertaking, administrative clearance (Annexure II), a vigilance report (Annexure III), and 2 passport photos.
5. Submit the complete hard copy — with all documents enclosed at one time, since piecemeal submissions are not accepted — to your administrative Port for forwarding to Mumbai Port Authority.
6. Make sure your complete application reaches the Manager (HR), Mumbai Port Authority, Port House, 2nd Floor, S.V. Marg, Ballard Estate, Mumbai - 400 001 by 18 September 2026.

If an APAR for any of the 5 years is missing, you can attach a "No Report Certificate" instead. If any major or minor penalty was imposed on you in the last 10 years, your forwarding Port must include the related disciplinary case documents along with your application.
