Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) is hiring for 13 posts11 Fishery Officers and 2 Junior Football Coaches. Meghalaya PSC Fishery Officer & Junior Football Coach Recruitment 2026 - 13 Posts

The Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) has released Advertisement No. 03/2026 for 13 government posts under two departments — the Directorate of Fisheries and the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs. Who Can Apply?

For Fishery Officer (Pay Level 12)

  • Qualification: You must have a B.F.Sc or B.Sc in Pisciculture/Fishery Science from any recognised university.

For Junior Football Coach (Pay Level 11)

  • Qualification: You must be a Graduate in any stream with a 1-year Diploma in Sports Coaching from NSNIS (Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports) or another institute recognised by the Government of India in the concerned discipline.
  • Special preference is given to medal winners at International, National or Zonal recognised championships.
  • Alternative route: 10+2 with a Diploma in Sports Coaching from NSNIS (or recognised institute) for those achievers who are medalists at International/National/Zonal championships.

Age Limit

  • Fishery Officer: You should be between 18 and 27 years as on 01 January 2026.
  • Junior Football Coach: You should be between 18 and 32 years as on 01 January 2026.
  • Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates who hold a certificate from a competent authority of the Government of Meghalaya.
  • For Junior Football Coach, there is also age relaxation up to 43 years for athletes who have played at the National level (under the Sports Quota of the Meghalaya State Sports Policy 2019).
  • No age bar for regular Meghalaya Government employees who joined service within the prescribed age limit.

Salary

  • Fishery Officer: Pay Level 12 of the Revised Pay Structure.
  • Junior Football Coach: Pay Level 11 of the Revised Pay Structure.
  • You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Meghalaya Government rules.

Application Fee

  • General / All candidates: Rs. 350 (non-refundable, inclusive of examination fee).
  • SC / ST (permanent residents of Meghalaya): Rs. 175 (half the rate).
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): No fee (on submitting the Disability Certificate).
  • Payment mode: e-Challan or online (Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking) through the GRAS payment gateway. e-Challan mode is preferred.

Selection Process

Selection is done in two stages:

  1. Screening Test (MCQ pattern): An objective written test. For Fishery Officer it carries 300 marks (General English 50, General Knowledge & Current Affairs 50, Aptitude & Reasoning 50, Domain Subject 150). For Junior Football Coach it carries 200 marks at Class XII level (General English 50, General Knowledge & Current Affairs 100, Reasoning 50).
  2. Personal Interview: Only candidates who pass the Screening Test are called for the interview, in a ratio decided by the Commission.

Note: 2% reservation applies for sports persons who have represented the State at International, National and Regional level in IOC-recognised disciplines.

  4. Fill in the online application form for your post.

  6. Submit the form and take a printout for your records before 25 June 2026 (5:00 PM).

Responsibilities

  • Manage fish hatcheries, ponds and fishery development schemes in the assigned area (Fishery Officer)
  • Monitor fish production, water quality and disease control in government fisheries (Fishery Officer)
  • Guide farmers and self-help groups on modern pisciculture techniques (Fishery Officer)
  • Train and coach young football players following modern sports science methods (Junior Football Coach)
  • Plan practice sessions, fitness drills and match strategies for trainees (Junior Football Coach)
  • Keep records of player performance, attendance and progress reports
  • Follow department rules and assist in organising sporting events and tournaments

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

B.F.Sc / B.Sc (Pisciculture or Fishery Science) for Fishery Officer; Graduation in any stream with a 1-year Diploma in Sports Coaching from NSNIS for Junior Football Coach

Preferred Qualification

For Junior Football Coach, medal winners at International/National/Zonal recognised championships are given special preference
