Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) Project Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) has invited applications for a Project Assistant position under the Chief Ministers' Research Grant (CMRG), a Tamil Nadu Government-sponsored research project. The project focuses on developing and scaling up bioprocesses for producing sustainable biopolymers through bio-based production of cis,cis-muconic acid using recombinant E. coli. The selected candidate must register for a PhD at MKU, making this an excellent opportunity for research-oriented candidates who want to pursue doctoral studies while working on a funded project. The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project duration of 36 months.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need an M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, or Biochemistry AND an M.Tech in Biotechnology with a minimum of 60% marks.
• Desirable: Experience in microbial fermentations using a fermenter will give you an edge.
• PhD Registration: If selected, you must register for a PhD at Madurai Kamaraj University.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 28 years

Fellowship / Salary

• You will receive a consolidated fellowship of Rs. 25,000 per month for three years.
• Note: This is a consolidated amount. No separate DA, HRA, or other allowances are provided.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

1. Entrance Exam: Eligible candidates will be shortlisted and called for an entrance exam first.
2. Interview: Candidates who clear the entrance exam will be called for an interview.

Note: No TA or DA will be paid for attending the interview.
