IISER Tirupati Research Associate-1 Recruitment 2026 – 1 Post

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati, an autonomous institution of national importance under the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, has released Advertisement No. 24/2026 for the post of Research Associate-1 on a purely contract basis. The position is under the project "Developing genomic methods for ecological studies of mammals" in the Research Area of Ecology and Evolution, supervised by Dr. Nandini Rajamani. This is a short-term research fellowship with scope to apply for competitive postdoctoral fellowships (SERB N-PDF, DBT-RA, CSIR-RA) through the institute.

Who Can Apply?

Minimum Qualification

• You must have a Ph.D. degree in any area of Life Sciences from a recognised university or institution.
• If you have submitted your thesis and are awaiting the award of your Ph.D., you can also apply — but you must provide a letter from a competent authority confirming that the thesis has been submitted and the final viva/defense is pending.
• You should have evidence of having conducted high-quality research during or after your Ph.D. program.

Desirable Qualities

• Knowledge of genomic methods to analyse whole genomes and SNP data
• Knowledge of population genomics and selection analysis

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 35 years as on the closing date of the advertisement (29 April 2026)

Fellowship / Salary

• Rs. 58,000 per month + 9% HRA — for candidates who produce their Ph.D. certificate at the time of joining
• Rs. 42,000 per month + 9% HRA — for candidates whose Ph.D. degree is awaited (thesis submitted, viva pending)
• A nominal research grant is also available under this programme.
• Following selection, you may also apply for competitive postdoctoral fellowships (SERB N-PDF, DBT-RA, CSIR-RA, ICMR, etc.) through the institute.

Selection Process

Selection is based on the following stages:

1. Screening: A Screening Committee reviews all applications. Only those with qualifications and experience above the minimum prescribed will be shortlisted for interview. There is no written exam.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. All shortlisted candidates are informed by email only. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

The selected candidate must join immediately upon receipt of the offer letter.
