TANUVAS has released a notice inviting candidates for one Young Professional II position at the Mecheri Sheep Research Station, Pottaneri, working under the ICAR-sponsored Network Project on Sheep Improvement. This project focuses on improving the health and productivity of the Mecheri sheep breed, an important local livestock resource for farmers in Salem district. No written application or online form is required — you simply turn up for the written exam and interview on the scheduled date with your documents. As a Young Professional II, you will look after the health care of the Mecheri sheep flock and record production and reproduction data, both at the research station and in beneficiary farmers' fields. This role suits candidates who are comfortable with regular travel and outdoor fieldwork.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: A graduate degree in Life Science, or any other bachelor's degree.
• Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen.
• Preferred: Experience in animal husbandry activities is desirable. You should also be ready to travel to farmers' flocks whenever the project needs it.

Salary

• Selected candidates get Rs. 25,000 per month as pay and allowances, following the ICAR guidelines for the Young Professional II category.
• No TA/DA is paid for attending the written exam or the interview.

Selection Process

The selection happens in two stages on the same day:

1. Written Exam: A one-hour test with multiple-choice questions.
2. Interview: Candidates who clear the written exam are interviewed right after. Just attending the interview does not guarantee selection — the final call is purely on merit, as per the norms of ASRR, TANUVAS, Chennai.
