JIPMER Research Scientist I Recruitment 2026: Overview

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) is hiring a Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) for the ESCHAR Trial in its Department of Paediatrics, Puducherry. Funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the study compares combination treatment for scrub typhus in children with azithromycin or doxycycline used alone.

This is a double-blind randomised controlled trial led by Dr Narayanan P. You would join the study through an externally funded project contract, with the engagement tied to the research and the funding available for it.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The notice gives a likely duration of three years. The engagement depends on the project and its external funding support, so the likely duration is not an unconditional promise of continued employment.
• Extension or early closure: The Project Investigator can extend or shorten the engagement. Keep this condition in mind when considering how the project appointment fits your existing commitments.
• Regular employment: Joining this research project does not create a claim to a regular post at JIPMER. The appointment remains attached to the externally sponsored work described in the advertisement.
• Changes to terms: The Principal Investigator may relax or change qualifications, experience requirements and other conditions. Any such decision belongs to the investigator; the notice does not grant an automatic exception to individual applicants.
• Accuracy and conduct: False information or attempts to influence the recruitment can lead to disqualification. If the problem is found after engagement, it can also lead to termination, so keep your declarations consistent with the facts.
• Shortlisting: The team will use your application information and supporting evidence to assess suitability. If applications are numerous, it may apply stricter shortlisting criteria; the Project Investigator's decision is final.
• Interview arrangements: The Principal Investigator may choose an in-person meeting or videoconferencing. If it is online, you are responsible for a suitable device with working audio and camera facilities and an adequate internet connection.
• Attendance costs: JIPMER will not pay travel or daily allowance for attending the interview. Account for your own attendance arrangements if an in-person meeting is scheduled.
