Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) Scientist-H Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), established as an apex body under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has issued Advertisement No. 01/2026 for the post of Scientist-H at Pay Level-15. ANRF drives and coordinates research, innovation, and development activities across the country. This is a senior leadership-level scientific post — the highest scientist grade — and requires proven expertise in managing large-scale science and technology programs. Recruitment can be through direct appointment, deputation (including short-term contract), or contractual appointment through open market.

Who Can Apply?

A. Direct Recruitment

  • Essential Qualification (Option 1): Doctorate degree from a recognised university or institute in any discipline listed in Schedule I (Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Computer & Information Sciences, Agricultural Sciences)
  • Essential Qualification (Option 2): Master's Degree from a recognised university or institute in any discipline listed in Schedule II (Engineering, Technology, Biotechnology, Medicine, Veterinary Sciences, or Pharmaceutical Sciences — minimum 4-year degree course)
  • Experience: 21 years of experience in Research and Development in Industry, Academic Institution, or Science and Technology Organisation, of which at least 10 years must be at senior level (Level-13 and above in the Pay Matrix), in planning, administration and development of organisation, and coordination of S&T programs
  • Also required: Experience in evolving, managing and directing science and technology programs; and published research work of high standard

Desirable Qualification (Direct Recruitment)

  • Post-Doctorate degree in any Schedule I discipline; or
  • Doctorate Degree in any Schedule II discipline

B. Deputation (including Short-Term Contract)

  • Scientists or Technologists from Central/State Government, Union Territories, Statutory or Autonomous Organisations, Universities, or recognised Research Institutions in India or abroad
  • Must be holding an analogous post on regular basis; or have 3 years of service in Level-14 (Rs. 1,44,200 – 2,18,200)
  • Must also possess the educational qualification and experience prescribed for direct recruits

C. Contractual Appointment through Open Market

  • Same essential qualifications and experience as Direct Recruitment
  • Persons from industry, private sector, overseas institutions, or Non-Government Organisations not covered under Deputation
  • Term: 3 years, eligible for reappointment

Age Limit

  • Direct Recruitment: Maximum 52 years as on the closing date for candidates in non-remote areas of India
  • Deputation (including Short-Term Contract): Maximum 58 years as on the closing date for candidates in non-remote areas
  • Contractual Appointment through Open Market: Maximum 58 years as on the closing date
  • Age Relaxation (Direct Recruitment): Up to 5 years for Government servants, as per Central Government instructions
  • Note: For remote area candidates (Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Lahaul & Spiti, Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba, Ladakh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep), the closing date for the purpose of age determination is different — check the notification.

Salary

  • Pay Level-15 in the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix: Rs. 1,82,200 to Rs. 2,24,100 per month
  • You will also get DA, HRA (as per ANRF/Government of India guidelines) and other allowances
  • Note: ANRF officers are not covered under Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) but are governed by ANRF Rules of Appointment. They are not eligible for government residential accommodation from the General Pool but are entitled to House Rent Allowance.

Selection Process

Selection is done in the following stages:

  1. Screening: ANRF may form a Screening Committee to shortlist candidates based on application details, CV, and suitability for the post. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview call.
  2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. CVs are assessed by a competent Selection Committee based on quality and nature of experience and specific job requirements of ANRF. A panel of selected candidates will be prepared, valid for 12 months from the date of results declaration.

  • Lead and manage large-scale science and technology research programs at the national level
  • Plan, administer, and oversee ANRF's scientific initiatives and project portfolios
  • Coordinate with academic institutions, research organisations, industry, and government bodies
  • Evolve strategies and frameworks for advancing R&D in priority S&T areas
  • Evaluate research proposals, monitor ongoing projects, and ensure quality outcomes
  • Represent ANRF in national and international scientific forums and committees
  • Guide junior scientists and build institutional capacity in key research domains
  • Prepare policy-level reports, review publications, and contribute to ANRF's strategic direction

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

PhD in science disciplines (Schedule I) OR Master's Degree in Engineering/Technology/Medicine/related fields (Schedule II, min. 4-year course)

Preferred Qualification

Post-Doctorate in Schedule I disciplines OR Doctorate in Schedule II disciplines
