Military Engineer Services (MES) Senior Architect Recruitment 2026 - 9 Posts

Military Engineer Services (MES), under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has invited applications from eligible officers currently serving in Central Government departments to fill 9 Senior Architect vacancies on deputation basis. MES is the premier construction agency of the Indian Armed Forces and has been providing infrastructure support to the military since 1851. The posts are spread across 9 strategic locations including Delhi, Jammu, Pune, Guwahati, Chennai, Vizag, Lucknow, Udhampur and Jaipur. This is a Group A Gazetted position carrying Level-13 pay, making it a senior-level opportunity for experienced architects serving in government departments.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must hold a Degree in Architecture from a recognized university or its equivalent.
• Registration: You must be registered with the Council of Architecture (valid registration required).
• Experience: You need at least 10 years of working experience as an Architect or Senior Architect.
• Service Eligibility (Option A): You should be holding an analogous post on regular basis in your parent cadre or department.
• Service Eligibility (Option B): Alternatively, you should have completed 5 years of regular service in Pay Level-12 or equivalent in your parent cadre or department.
• Note: Departmental officers in the feeder category who are in the direct line of promotion are not eligible for deputation.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications (14 May 2026).
• No minimum age is specified since this is a deputation post for serving government officers.

Salary

• The post carries Pay Level-13 of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix.
• Entry pay at Level-13 is Rs 1,23,100 per month, which can go up to Rs 2,15,900 per month.
• You will also receive Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA) and other allowances as per Central Government rules.
• Terms and conditions of deputation are governed by DOP&T OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt.(Pay-II) dated 17.06.2010, as amended.

Selection Process

1. Application Screening: MES will screen all received applications based on eligibility criteria, qualifications and experience. Only complete applications with all required documents will be considered.
2. Written Test and/or Interview: MES may at its discretion call shortlisted candidates for a written test and/or interview. The selection committee will assess candidates based on their fitness for the role.
3. Document Verification: Your parent department must verify and certify that all particulars furnished are correct, with no pending disciplinary or vigilance case.

Note: MES reserves the right to select fewer candidates than the number of posts advertised, based on the fitness of candidates assessed by the Selection Committee.

3. Obtain cadre clearance from your parent department before submitting the application.
4. Attach the required documents: Last 5 years APAR/confidential reports, Integrity Certificate, Vigilance Clearance, and No Penalty Certificate for last 10 years.
5. Get the application countersigned by your employer confirming that you can be spared if selected.
6. Indicate your choice of 3 stations for deputation in order of preference from the 9 available locations.

• Design and plan architectural projects for military installations, barracks, office buildings, residential quarters and other defence infrastructure across the assigned zone.
• Prepare detailed drawings, specifications and estimates for new construction projects and renovation of existing military buildings.
• Supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with approved architectural plans, military standards and building codes.
• Coordinate with military commanders, Chief Engineers and other MES officials to understand infrastructure requirements and translate them into functional designs.
• Review and approve architectural proposals submitted by subordinate architects and external consultants working on MES projects.
• Ensure structural safety and adherence to environmental norms, green building standards and energy efficiency guidelines in all construction projects.
• Manage project documentation including architectural drawings, progress reports, site inspection notes and completion certificates.
• Provide technical guidance to junior officers and architects on complex design challenges, heritage building conservation and modernization of defence facilities.
