Research and Development Establishment (Engineers) — R&DE(E), DRDO, Pune has released Advertisement No. RDE/HRD/PDINTERN/2026/01 for 40 paid internship positions for engineering UG and PG students. R&DE(E) is a premier DRDO system laboratory working on state-of-the-art defence technologies for the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. Minimum 7.5 CGPA (cumulative of all previous semesters) is required — applications based on SGPA will be disqualified. This is a great opportunity for engineering students to gain hands-on experience in defence R&D.

Vacancy Breakdown by Discipline

• Mechanical / Civil (ME/CE): 10 posts
• Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation (EE/ECS&IN): 15 posts
• Computer Science / Artificial Intelligence (CS/AI&DS): 15 posts

Note: Number of positions is indicative and may increase or decrease at the discretion of R&DE(E).

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must be pursuing a full-time Under-Graduate Engineering Degree (7th or 8th semester) or a full-time Post-Graduate Engineering Degree (2nd year) in the respective discipline from a recognised Indian University, College or Institute.
• Academic Record: Minimum 75% marks or 7.5 CGPA on a scale of 10 (first class with distinction) from an AICTE/UGC approved college or university.
• CGPA Rule: Minimum 7.5 CGPA cumulative of all previous semesters. Applications submitted based on SGPA score will be disqualified.
• Referral: You need a referral letter from the Dean or Principal of your college (mandatory attachment).

Stipend

• Monthly stipend: Rs. 5,000 per month
• Total stipend for 6 months: Rs. 30,000 paid in two instalments — Rs. 15,000 after 3 months and Rs. 15,000 after 6 months.
• For M.Tech students: duration is 11 months, but stipend is paid only for the first 6 months.
• Stipend will be paid directly to your bank account.
• No boarding or lodging expenses are admissible. However, you can use the R&DE(E) canteen at subsidised rates for lunch, tea and snacks.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is purely based on merit. The steps are:

1. Online Application: Fill the Google Form with academic, personal and college details.
2. Merit Screening: Applications are screened based on CGPA, academic achievements and college referral letter.
3. Shortlisting: Only shortlisted students are notified about the joining procedures.
4. Document Verification & Joining: Selected students submit NOC, undertaking forms, indemnity bond, police verification, medical fitness certificate and other documents at the time of joining.

2. Get a referral letter from your Dean or Principal on college letterhead (mandatory).

4. Attach scanned copies of all previous semester mark sheets, Aadhaar card, college ID card and the referral letter.
5. Submit the form before 27 May 2026.
6. No hard copy submission is required.

• Work on assigned defence R&D project under the guidance of R&DE(E) scientists
• Follow IT rules and regulations applicable to the Ministry of Defence
• Adhere strictly to the Indian Official Secrets Act, 1923 during the internship
• Be physically present at R&DE(E) Pune for a minimum of 15 working days per month
• Prepare and submit the project report at the end of the internship
• Maintain confidentiality of all defence-related information and project data
• Follow security norms and discipline of the laboratory during the entire tenure
