Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), a Government of India undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, has issued Vacancy Notice No. DE/03/2026 dated 8 May 2026 for filling up 1 Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer (Dy. CME) post in JAG/SG scale at the Corporate Office, Belapur, Navi Mumbai. The deputation term is 3 years, extendable up to 5 years. This opening is exclusively for serving Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) officers. KRCL has been granted exemption from the rule of immediate absorption up to 31 December 2026.

Who Can Apply?

• Service: You must be a serving IRSME officer of Indian Railways.
• Pay Matrix Level: One of the following:
  • IRSME officer working in PML-13 of 7th CPC, OR
  • IRSME officer working in PML-12 of 7th CPC, OR
  • IRSME officer working in PML-11 of 7th CPC with 7 years of total service in Indian Railways/PSUs.
• Forwarding: Applications of officers working in Zonal Railways/Production Units must be forwarded with the approval of the Competent Authority in the Ministry. Applications must reach the Railway Board at least 7 days before the closing date. KRCL will consider only applications duly forwarded by the Railway Board.
• An advance copy along with enclosures may also be sent by email to spo.gnanadeep@krcl.co.in.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: Below 50 years as on the date of notification (08 May 2026).

Salary

• JAG/SG scale as per 7th CPC Pay Matrix Level-13 (Rs. 1,23,100 to Rs. 2,15,900 per month), OR
• As per 7th CPC Pay Matrix Level-12 (Rs. 78,800 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month).
• The officer will draw pay and allowances as per DoPT instructions, equivalent to what would have been admissible on the Railways, plus deputation (duty) allowance.
• Railway accommodation can be retained during deputation tenure in KRCL as per Railway Board's policy, as amended from time to time.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam. Selection is governed by criteria laid down in Railway Board letters No. 2017/E(O)II/41/5 dated 25/05/2017 and No. 2018/E(O)II/41/1 dated 07/03/2018:

1. Screening of Applications received through proper channel from Railway Board.
2. Shortlisting of eligible and suitable candidates based on eligibility criteria and relevant experience as specified in the vacancy notice.
3. Final Selection by the competent authority at KRCL.

3. Affix a recent passport-size photograph with signature across it.

• Oversee train operations and maintenance of rolling stock at Konkan Railway
• Manage track machine operations, fuel installations and related mechanical infrastructure
• Handle disaster management plans and emergency response for the Mechanical Department
• Prepare budgets, manage tenders and approve related procurement
• Liaison with Zonal Railways on operations, projects and inter-railway coordination
• Supervise rolling stock infrastructure, operations and maintenance, and technology upgradation projects
• Assist the CME/KRCL with other Mechanical Department activities as assigned
• Prepare technical reports, performance reviews and present them to KRCL management
