Kerala Public Service Commission (Kerala PSC) Lecturer in Geography Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Kerala Public Service Commission (Kerala PSC) has issued a First NCA (Notified Community Allotment) Notification, Category No. 101/2026, for the post of Lecturer in Geography under the Kerala General Education Department (DIET). Kerala PSC follows a community rotation system where specific vacancies are set aside for candidates from a particular community when the main ranked list runs out of eligible candidates from that group. This single vacancy is reserved for the Muslim community against the ranked list originally published on 9 October 2025 (Category No. 376/2022, Gazette dated 15 September 2022). Applications from candidates belonging to any community other than Muslim will be rejected, and no individual rejection memo will be sent. This is a solid opportunity for postgraduate Geography or Geology holders with a B.Ed/M.Ed background who are looking for a stable teaching career in Kerala's government education system.

Who Can Apply?

• Basic Qualification: Master's Degree with at least 50% marks in Geography or Geology from any statutory university established in India.
• Professional Qualification: M.Ed Degree with at least 50% marks, with Social Science Education as an optional subject, from any statutory university.
• Eligibility Test: You must also clear NET, State Eligibility Test (SET), Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), M.Phil, or Ph.D in the subject concerned or in Education, as per G.O.(P)No.9/2021/G.Edn dated 19/02/2021.
• Community: Only candidates from the Muslim community domiciled in Kerala are eligible to apply for this NCA vacancy.
• Candidates who hold non-qualifying M.Phil, Ph.D, or Post-Doctoral Fellowship in related subjects (over and above the essential qualification) get weightage marks for ranking — 2 marks for non-qualifying M.Phil, 4 marks for non-qualifying Ph.D, 5 marks if you have both, and 2 marks for a Post-Doctoral Fellowship.
• Equivalent or higher qualifications recognized by the Government through executive or standing orders are also accepted — you can produce the relevant Government order when asked by the Commission.

Age Limit

• You should be between 22 and 47 years old. Only candidates born between 2 January 1979 and 1 January 2004 (both dates included) can apply for this post.
• This age band already includes the standard relaxation under Para 2(i) of the General Conditions. For any additional relaxation you may be eligible for, check Part II, Para 2 of the General Conditions in the gazette notification.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 55,200 to Rs. 1,15,300 per month as per the applicable Kerala Government pay scale.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Kerala Government rules.

Selection Process

The selection for this NCA vacancy follows these steps:

1. Application Screening: Kerala PSC checks your One Time Registration (OTR) profile, community declaration, and uploaded qualification documents against the notification requirements.
2. Merit Ranking: Candidates are ranked based on their qualifications, with additional weightage marks for extra non-qualifying degrees like M.Phil, Ph.D, or a Post-Doctoral Fellowship.
3. Document Verification: Your educational qualification, age, and community certificates are checked before you are advised for the post. If your community/caste in the application differs from your SSLC book, you will need to produce a gazette notification along with a Non-Creamy Layer Certificate.
4. Advice and Appointment: Candidates are advised for appointment from the ranked list against the Muslim community vacancy as and when it becomes available, until the ranked list expires.

Note: If a Written/OMR/Online Test is conducted as part of this selection, you must confirm your intention to write the exam through your OTR profile. Admission tickets are made available only to candidates who submit this confirmation, in the last 15 days before the test date.
