KVASU Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) wants a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for a research project at its College of Dairy Science and Technology (CDST), Pookode in Wayanad district. The project is funded by the Department of Health Research (DHR) under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and it is run from the Department of Dairy Microbiology by Dr. Archana Chandran as Principal Investigator.

The study tests a home-grown phagebiotic formulation against multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus picked up from livestock. It follows a One Health approach, looking at how the formulation changes the gut microbiome in a mouse model. This is a project-linked fellowship, not a regular university job.

If you hold a postgraduate degree in microbiology or biotechnology, an M.Tech in Dairy Microbiology or a BVSc and AH, and you have cleared a national-level test such as CSIR-UGC NET or GATE, this post fits you well. Hands-on work with bacteriophages, probiotics or microbiome research will give you an edge at the interview.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Tenure: The engagement is purely temporary and contractual, and ends with the project or with the period the sanctioned project allows, subject to good performance.
  • National test route: You must have been selected through a national eligibility test (CSIR-UGC NET, including NET-Lectureship, or GATE) or a national-level exam held by a central body such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER or NEET.
  • Supervision: You will work under the Principal Investigator on research tied to the project's objectives.
  • Place of work: You must be willing to work at CDST Pookode, Wayanad.
  • No claim to a regular job: The fellowship gives no right to regular employment in the university or any other institution.
  • Fellowship rules: The fellowship and other benefits follow DHR and university rules.
  • Interview costs: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview, and you must bring all original certificates for checking on that day.
  • Canvassing: Any form of canvassing leads to disqualification.
