GU Project Assistant (Technical) Recruitment 2026: Overview

Gauhati University (GU) in Guwahati wants a Project Assistant (Technical) for a research project in its Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The project is funded by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) under its Research Promotion Scheme (RPS) 2025 — Lab to Market, and it aims to build a low-cost, AI-integrated ABR device that can spot hearing loss early in people across North East India.

ABR stands for auditory brainstem response — a test that reads the brain's electrical reaction to sound. This is a project job, not a regular university post, so it suits an M.E. or M.Tech graduate who wants hands-on work in biomedical electronics, signal processing and AI before a PhD or an industry role.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: You are engaged for six months at first. It can be extended up to the full 36-month life of the project if your work is good and the project still has funds.
• Purely temporary: The job ends with the project. You get no claim to a regular post at Gauhati University, or to a place in any other project, because of this engagement.
• Notice period: Either side can end the engagement with one month's notice, or as Gauhati University rules allow.
• Shortlisting first: Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call. The university first screens applicants on academic record, research experience and technical skills.
• Communication by email: Interview call letters and details reach shortlisted candidates only by email, and the final result is put up on the Gauhati University website.
