The Kerala Public Service Commission (Kerala PSC) has published notification Category No. 045/2026 to fill 1 vacancy of Fisheries Extension Officer in the Kerala Government's Fisheries Department. This is a permanent government job filled by Direct Recruitment. Kerala PSC is the state body that recruits for most Kerala Government departments, so a rank in its list means a secure, pensionable state posting. Who Can Apply?

You can apply if you meet any one of the qualifications below.

Bachelor's Route

• A Bachelor's degree in Fisheries Science from a recognised university.

Master's Route

• A Master's degree in Fisheries Science, Industrial Fisheries, Mariculture, Marine Biology, Coastal Aquaculture, Aquatic Biology and Fisheries, Aquaculture, Aquaculture and Fishery Microbiology, Capture and Culture Fisheries, Aquaculture and Fishery Biology, Applied Fisheries and Aquaculture, Fish Processing Technology and Aquaculture, Aquaculture Engineering, or Zoology from a recognised university.

Other Points

• Degrees from UGC-approved universities or institutions set up by an Act of Parliament or a State Legislature are accepted.
• Higher qualifications that already include the prescribed qualification, and qualifications declared equivalent by the Government, are also accepted. Keep the relevant Government order ready if asked.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 40 years old.
• Only candidates born between 2 January 1986 and 1 January 2008 (both dates included) can apply.
• Age Relaxation: SC, ST and OBC candidates get the usual age relaxation as per the General Conditions in Part II of the notification.

Salary

• The pay scale for this post is Rs. 50,200 to Rs. 1,05,300 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Kerala Government rules.
• Selected candidates are placed on probation for two years within a continuous period of three years.

Selection Process

Selection is done by Kerala PSC and appointment is based on your rank in the Ranked List:

1. Written / OMR / Online Test (if held): If Kerala PSC conducts a test for this post, you must submit a confirmation through your One Time Registration profile. Only those who confirm can generate and download the admission ticket, which is available in the last 15 days before the test.
2. Ranked List: Kerala PSC prepares a Ranked List of qualified candidates. This list stays valid for a minimum of one year and up to three years, and appointments are made against reported vacancies during this period.
3. Document Verification: You must produce original documents proving qualification, age and community when the Commission calls for them.

Note: After joining, you must pass the Account Test (Lower or Higher) if not already passed, and clear the Staff Training Course conducted by the Director of Fisheries during probation.
