JPSC Boiler Inspector Recruitment 2025 — 5 Posts

JPSC has issued Advertisement No. 02/2025 dated 02 July 2025 for direct recruitment to the post of Boiler Inspector (Vashpitra Nirikshak) under the Jharkhand Labour Service (Technical) cadre. The vacancies have been requisitioned by the Labour Department through letter no. 695 dated 12 April 2023. This is a Gazetted Class-II position with a 2-year probation period. You will be working in registered factories, public sector undertakings, and government workshops to inspect boilers and steam plants for safety compliance.

Who Can Apply?

You must be an Indian citizen and meet both the educational and work-experience criteria below.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering / Power Plant Engineering / Metallurgy / Production Engineering / Technology from a recognised university or institution.
  • The institution must be incorporated by a Central or State Legislature, recognised by AICTE, or declared a deemed university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.

Work Experience

  • 2 years of post-qualification practical experience as an engineer in a boiler plant of any organisation registered under the Companies Act, 1956, a Public Sector Undertaking, or a Government department in a related branch of engineering.
  • OR 2 years of experience as an engineer in a workshop registered under the Factories Act that builds and repairs steam engines.
  • The experience certificate must be issued by the competent authority of the registered organisation, PSU, or Government department.

Age Limit

  • Minimum age: 21 years
  • Reference date: 01 August 2022
  • Maximum age (Unreserved): 35 years
  • Maximum age (EBC — Annexure I / BC-I): 37 years
  • Maximum age (BC — Annexure II / BC-II): 37 years
  • Maximum age (Female UR/EBC/BC): 38 years
  • Maximum age (SC / ST): 40 years
  • Maximum age (EWS): 35 years
  • Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): additional 10 years' relaxation in their respective category.

Salary

  • Pay Band: PB-II Rs. 9,300–34,800 with Grade Pay Rs. 5,400.
  • You will draw Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other benefits as per Government of Jharkhand rules.

Selection Process

Selection has two stages — a written examination followed by a personal interview.

  1. Written Examination (Subjective type, 500 marks): three papers covering General Hindi & English plus two Engineering papers.
  2. Interview (50 marks): assesses your leadership, intelligence, social skills, mental and physical fitness, and integrity.
  3. Document verification: all original certificates checked before final appointment.

Final merit is based on the combined marks of the written exam and interview. The minimum qualifying marks are 40% (UR/EWS), 36.5% (BC-II), 34% (BC-I), 32% (SC/ST and Women), and 30% (Primitive Tribes).

Responsibilities

  • Inspect boilers, steam plants, and pressure vessels at registered factories and PSUs across Jharkhand for safety compliance.
  • Issue and renew certificates under the Indian Boilers Act and applicable State rules.
  • Investigate boiler accidents, document findings, and recommend corrective action to the Labour Department.
  • Maintain inspection records, registers, and statutory reports as required by the Boilers Regulations.
  • Verify design drawings and material test certificates submitted by manufacturers and users.
  • Witness hydraulic and steam tests during fabrication, erection, and periodical inspection of boilers.
  • Support enforcement of safety standards and assist senior officers during cross-state coordination.
  • Prepare technical opinions for licensing, exemption, or prosecution matters referred by the department.

Required Skills

Exam Pattern

The written examination is subjective in nature and consists of three papers carrying a combined 500 marks:

  • Paper 1 — General Hindi & General English: 100 marks, 3 hours. You must score at least 30 out of 100 (qualifying); these marks will not be added to the merit list.
  • Paper 2 — Engineering Paper-I: 200 marks, 3 hours.
  • Paper 3 — Engineering Paper-II: 200 marks, 3 hours.

Engineering papers will be set only in English. SI units will be used wherever applicable. The detailed syllabus is available on jpsc.gov.in. The interview carries 50 marks and the final merit list is prepared by combining written and interview scores.
