JNCASR Junior Project Engineer Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), an autonomous institution under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, located in Jakkur, Bengaluru, has invited applications for 1 Junior Project Engineer post vide Advertisement No. JNC/AO/01/2026 dated 23 January 2026. This is a re-advertisement -- candidates who applied against the earlier advertisement (JNC/AO/02/2025 dated 05.04.2025) do not need to apply again. If you hold a Civil Engineering degree and have hands-on construction site experience, this role at one of India's premier research institutions could be an excellent fit.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university or college.
• Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience as a site engineer, civil engineer, or in an equivalent role is required.
• Citizenship: You must be a citizen of India.

Desirable Skills

• Proficiency in managing and supervising construction projects
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, GIS, AutoCAD, and related software
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials, Indian Building Code, and safety regulations
• Project management, budgeting, and cost control skills
• Ability to assess and present survey reports and technical data
• Knowledge of sustainable construction practices

Age Limit

• You should be below 35 years of age as on the last date of receipt of applications (31 March 2026).
• JNCASR regular staff: Age relaxation as per Government of India norms.
• JNCASR temporary/project/outsourced staff with minimum 3 years of continuous service: One-time age relaxation equal to their service period at JNCASR (upper limit not exceeding 50 years).

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month under Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA, and other admissible allowances as per Central Government rules.
• Your approximate gross salary at entry level (including DA at current rates) will be around Rs. 55,000 to Rs. 60,000 per month depending on Bengaluru city allowances.

• SC / ST / Women / Divyang / Ex-Servicemen / Transgender: Rs. 0 (Application Fee) + Rs. 450 (Processing Fee) = Rs. 450
• Payment Mode: Online through Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI
• Fees once paid are non-refundable. Payment gateway charges are borne by candidates.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

1. Part A -- General Aptitude Test (Computer-Based Online Test): 40 MCQs for 40 marks in 50 minutes. Conducted in Bengaluru only. Question paper in English only. Negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer. Covers Logical Reasoning (15 Qs), Numerical Reasoning (5 Qs), Verbal Reasoning (15 Qs), and General Awareness (5 Qs).
2. Part B -- On-the-Job Skill Test (60 marks): This is a qualifying test evaluated only for candidates who pass Part A. It covers areas specified under the desirable qualifications, job responsibilities, and job description. The date and details will be announced later.

4. Upload all required documents (mark sheets from Class 10 onwards, experience certificates, caste certificate, photo, etc.).
5. Pay the application fee and processing fee online.
6. Submit and save the acknowledgement for your records.

Note: Candidates who already applied against the earlier advertisement (JNC/AO/02/2025 dated 05.04.2025) need not apply again. Their earlier application remains valid.

• Oversee construction activities at the site and ensure work meets project specifications, codes, and safety regulations
• Conduct regular site inspections to track progress, spot potential issues, and confirm compliance with engineering and design standards
• Work closely with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to keep projects on schedule
• Analyze engineering plans, blueprints, survey reports, and technical drawings to plan construction activities
• Manage procurement and delivery of construction materials while checking quality and compliance with industry standards
• Identify project risks and put preventive measures in place to avoid delays, cost overruns, and safety hazards
• Keep detailed project records including progress reports, site diaries, change orders, and quality control documents
• Monitor project costs, find cost-saving opportunities, and stay within budget limits
