Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), an autonomous institution under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has invited applications for 1 Assistant Administrative Officer post under the Unreserved (UR) category. Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 35 years as on the last date of receipt of applications (31 March 2026).
  • Age Relaxation: Staff members serving regularly at JNCASR are eligible for age relaxation as per Government of India norms.

Salary

  • Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month under Level 10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
  • You will also receive DA, HRA, TA and other admissible allowances as per Central Government rules.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

  1. Computer-Based Online Test: The exam has 100 MCQ questions for 100 marks with a duration of 120 minutes (2 hours). The test is divided into Part A (General Aptitude Test - 40 questions) and Part B (Skill Test - 60 questions). Part B is qualifying in nature and will only be evaluated for candidates who clear Part A. Negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer applies. The exam will be held in Bengaluru only and question papers will be in English only.
  2. Interview: Candidates who qualify the online test will be called for a formal interview. Date and details will be communicated later.

Exam Pattern

Part A - General Aptitude Test (40 Questions, 40 Marks)

  • Logical Reasoning: 15 questions (1 mark each)
  • Numerical Reasoning: 5 questions (1 mark each)
  • Verbal Reasoning: 15 questions (1 mark each)
  • General Awareness: 5 questions (1 mark each)

Part B - Skill Test (60 Questions, 60 Marks)

  • ERP Proficiency: 10 questions (1 mark each)
  • Proficiency in GoI Rules: 50 questions (1 mark each) - covers FR/SR, GFR, Pension rules, Procurement, Income Tax, GST, RTI, CCS CCA rules, CCS Conduct rules

Part B is qualifying only and will be evaluated only if you clear Part A.

Responsibilities

  • Handle recruitment processes, service register maintenance, and APAR management for non-teaching staff members
  • Manage timely processing of R&D personnel hiring, project file maintenance, and submission of Utilization Certificates and Statements of Expenditure to funding agencies
  • Prepare and submit reports to various Government agencies on time
  • Process and dispose of official correspondence including claims, reports, and returns promptly
  • Provide data and reports as required by the Competent Authority
  • Assist the Administrative Officer in all establishment and administrative matters
  • Work with the ERP system for day-to-day administrative operations
  • Coordinate staff training programmes and other duties assigned by the Competent Authority

  • ERP Proficiency: 10 questions (1 mark each) - HR module, Finance module, Purchase module operations
  • Proficiency in GoI Rules: 50 questions (1 mark each) - FR/SR, GFR, Pension rules, Procurement, Materials management, Income Tax, GST, RTI, CCS CCA rules, CCS Conduct rules

You need to clear Part A first. Part B will only be checked for candidates who pass Part A.
