About This Job
Indian Navy is hiring 60 Permanent Commissioned Officers through the 10+2 (B.Tech) Cadet Entry Scheme for the course commencing January 2027. If you have passed 12th with at least 70% in PCM and appeared in JEE Main 2026, you can apply online. The last date to apply is 18 June 2026. You will get a 4-year B.Tech degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University with a cadet stipend of Rs. 56,100 per month.
Indian Navy 10+2 B.Tech Cadet Entry Recruitment 2026 - 60 Posts
The Indian Navy (Naval Headquarters) has released the advertisement for 60 Permanent Commission officer vacancies under the 10+2 (B.Tech) Cadet Entry Scheme — January 2027 course. There are 30 posts in Mechanical Engineering and 30 in Electronics & Communication Engineering, with up to 8 vacancies reserved for women (4 each). There is no written exam — selection is based on your JEE Main 2026 All India CRL, followed by SSB Interview and medical examination. Unmarried male and female 12th-pass students who appeared in JEE Main 2026 are eligible.
Vacancy Breakdown by Branch
- Mechanical Engineering: 30 posts (4 reserved for women)
- Electronics & Communication Engineering: 30 posts (4 reserved for women)
Based on merit at INA, 7 candidates from the Mechanical Engineering stream will be streamed to B.Tech in Naval Architecture & Shipbuilding at NCW Kochi.
Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You must have passed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 Pattern) or equivalent from a recognised Board with at least 70% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and at least 50% in English (in Class 10 or Class 12).
- JEE Main 2026: You must have appeared for JEE (Main) 2026 for B.E./B.Tech. The SSB call-up is based on your JEE Main 2026 All India Common Rank List (CRL).
- Marital Status: Only unmarried men and women can apply. If you marry during training, you will be discharged and made to refund the training cost.
- Nationality: You must fulfil the nationality conditions laid down by the Government of India.
Age Limit
- You must be born between 02 July 2007 and 01 January 2010 (both dates inclusive).
- No age relaxation is allowed beyond these dates for any category.
Salary
- During Training (as Cadet at INA Ezhimala): Stipend of Rs. 56,100 per month with free boarding, lodging, books, uniforms and medical care — the entire cost of training is borne by the Indian Navy.
- After Commissioning (Sub Lieutenant): Basic pay of Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 under Pay Level 10 of the 7th CPC.
- Military Service Pay (MSP): Rs. 15,500 per month from Sub Lieutenant rank and above.
- Plus DA, Kit Maintenance Allowance (Rs. 20,000 per year), Hard Area / Sea Going Allowance and other allowances as per service rules.
- Approximate gross starting salary after commissioning: Rs. 1,25,000 per month (including MSP and allowances).

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection is based on the following stages:
- JEE Main 2026 Shortlisting: Naval Headquarters will fix the cut-off for SSB shortlisting based on your JEE Main 2026 All India CRL. You must enter your CRL rank in the application.
- SSB Interview: Service Selection Board interviews will be held at Bengaluru / Bhopal / Kolkata / Visakhapatnam from September 2026 onwards. AC-3 tier rail fare is admissible if appearing for the first time. Change of SSB centre is not allowed.
- Medical Examination: All SSB-recommended candidates must undergo medical examination as per 10+2 (B.Tech) entry standards. No relaxation in medical standards. Candidates already declared medically fit for NDA/INA Jan 27 need not undergo a repeat test.
- Final Merit List: Based on SSB marks and medical fitness, followed by Police Verification and Character Verification.

- Register on the portal using your e-mail ID and mobile number.
- Fill the online application with your personal details exactly as in your Matriculation/12th Class certificate.
- Upload scanned copies (JPG/TIFF) of date of birth proof, 10th marksheet, 12th marksheet, JEE Main 2026 score card showing CRL rank and a recent passport size photo.
- Submit your application before the deadline. Multiple applications will lead to cancellation of candidature.
- Take a printout and carry it along with all original certificates when reporting for the SSB interview.

Responsibilities
- Undergo a 4-year B.Tech course at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala in Mechanical or Electronics & Communication Engineering
- Complete naval training in seamanship, navigation, weapons systems and leadership alongside academics
- Serve as a Permanent Commissioned Officer in the Indian Navy after commissioning as Sub Lieutenant
- Operate and maintain naval machinery, propulsion systems or electronic warfare and communication equipment on ships and submarines
- Lead teams of sailors and supervise engineering or technical operations on board
- Participate in naval operations, exercises and deployments as directed by the command
- Maintain discipline, fitness and professional standards as expected of a naval officer

Minimum Qualification
12th Pass (Senior Secondary 10+2) with at least 70% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and at least 50% in English (Class 10 or 12). Must have appeared in JEE Main 2026.

Exam Pattern
There is no written exam conducted by the Indian Navy for this entry.
Shortlisting is done based on your JEE Main 2026 All India Common Rank List (CRL) published by NTA. Naval Headquarters will fix the cut-off rank based on the number of applications and vacancies.
SSB Interview
- Duration: 5 days at SSB centres in Bengaluru, Bhopal, Kolkata or Visakhapatnam
- Stage 1 (Screening): Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PPDT)
- Stage 2: Psychological tests, Group Testing Officer (GTO) tasks and Personal Interview
- Conference: Final assessment by the SSB board
Final merit is based on SSB marks + medical fitness, subject to Police & Character Verification.
