The Indian Army is commissioning 20 Veterinary Officers (18 Men + 2 Women) into the Remount and Veterinary Corps (RVC) through the 95th Short Service Commission (SSC). If you hold a BVSc or BVSc & AH degree and have completed your internship, this is your chance to serve as an Army Captain. Indian Army RVC Veterinary Officer SSC Recruitment 2026 — 20 Posts
The Indian Army's Remount and Veterinary Corps (RVC) is responsible for the health and welfare of animals serving in the armed forces. The 95th SSC RVC Entry 2026 invites veterinary graduates to serve as commissioned officers at the RVC Centre & College, Meerut Cantonment and at units across India. There is no written exam — selection is through SSB interview and medical examination only. This is one of the few Army officer entries open to veterinary science graduates.

Who Can Apply?
Educational Qualification
- You must hold a BVSc or BVSc & AH (Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry) degree from any recognised Indian university.
- The qualification must be included in the First or Second Schedule of the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984.
- You must have completed your internship at the time of applying.
- You must be registered with the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) or a State Veterinary Council.
Higher Qualification Benefit (Ante-date Seniority)
- MVSc degree holders: 12 months ante-date seniority on commissioning
- PhD degree holders: 24 months ante-date seniority on commissioning
Note: You must hold the MVSc/PhD degree on the date of commissioning to get this benefit.
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 21 years
- Maximum age: 32 years (as on last date of application)

Salary
- Pay Matrix Level: Level 10(B) (7th Central Pay Commission)
- Basic Pay: Rs. 61,300 per month
- Military Service Pay (MSP): Rs. 15,500 per month
- Non-Practising Allowance (NPA): 20% of basic pay
- Dearness Allowance (DA): As applicable
- In-hand salary with all allowances is approximately Rs. 1,00,000 to Rs. 1,20,000 per month depending on posting location.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection is through the following stages:
- Application Screening: Applications are reviewed by the Directorate General Remount Veterinary Services, IHQ of MoD (Army). Shortlisted candidates are called for SSB interview based on eligibility and vacancy-to-call-up ratio.
- SSB Interview (5 days): Candidates attend a Services Selection Board interview at one of the designated centres — Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka), or Gandhinagar (Gujarat). The interview evaluates intelligence, personality, leadership potential, and officer-like qualities through psychological tests, group tasks, and personal interview.
- Medical Examination: Candidates who pass the SSB interview undergo a thorough medical examination at a designated military hospital as per Army medical standards.
- Final Merit List: Prepared based on SSB interview scores and medical fitness. Selected candidates are commissioned in the rank of Captain.

Responsibilities
- Provide veterinary care and treatment to animals serving in Army units across assigned postings
- Manage the health, welfare, and nutrition of horses, mules, dogs, and other animals used by the Indian Army
- Maintain medical records, vaccination schedules, and health monitoring for animals under charge
- Conduct disease surveillance, prevention, and control programmes at RVC units
- Supervise and train junior personnel in animal husbandry and basic veterinary procedures
- Participate in procurement and quality inspection of animals and animal feed for the Army
- Perform administrative and operational duties as assigned by commanding officers
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
BVSc or BVSc & AH (Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry) from a recognised Indian university, included in First or Second Schedule of Indian Veterinary Council Act 1984. Internship must be completed.
Preferred Qualification

- Days 2–4 — Psychological, Group & Interview Tests: Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), Word Association Test (WAT), Situation Reaction Test (SRT), Self Description Test, Group Discussion, Group Planning Exercise, Progressive Group Task, Snake Race, Command Task, and other group activities.
- Day 5 — Conference: Final board conference and results declared.
Medical Examination
- Conducted at designated military hospitals after clearing SSB.
