About This Job

IIT Mandi is holding a walk-in selection to hire part-time Sports Coaches, a Gym Instructor, a Fitness Trainer and a Yoga Instructor on a per-diem basis. If you have a degree or diploma in Physical Education, Yoga or Fitness Training (or a coaching certificate in your sport), you can walk in and appear for selection. You will earn an honorarium of Rs. 28,000 to Rs. 30,000 per month based on your qualifications and experience, working in split shifts, 6 days a week. The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) in Himachal Pradesh is strengthening its sports and fitness facilities and is holding a walk-in selection to engage part-time coaches and instructors. The roles cover a wide range of games — Athletics, Swimming, Basketball, Football, Lawn Tennis, Volleyball, Weightlifting and Squash — along with Yoga, Gym and Fitness training. The engagement is purely temporary and part-time on a per-diem basis, so appearing for the walk-in does not give you any right to a regular job at the Institute. This is a good opening for sports coaches, yoga teachers and gym trainers who want to work at a top national institute while keeping a flexible schedule.

Who Can Apply?

Each role has its own qualification. Pick the one that matches your background.

Sports Coaches (Athletics, Swimming, Basketball, Football, Lawn Tennis, Volleyball, Weightlifting)

• A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Physical Education, OR
• A Certificate Course in Coaching from a recognised institution, OR
• An NIS Diploma in the relevant sport
• Representation at State / University / National level is preferred

Sports Coach (Squash)

• A Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Physical Education or an equivalent coaching certification
• Representation at State / University / National level, OR a Level-1 Coaching Course

Yoga Instructor

• A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Yoga (or higher) from a recognised institution, OR a Diploma in Yoga with at least 3 years of experience
• Good knowledge of traditional yoga, pranayama, meditation and relaxation techniques

Gym Instructor & Fitness Trainer

• A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in any subject, OR a Diploma/Certificate in Fitness or Gym Training from a recognised institute
• A Certified Gym Trainer qualification (from bodies like K11, Gold's Gym, NSCA or ACSM); a Certified Gym Instructor is preferred
• At least 3 years of work experience and knowledge of strength, cardio and functional fitness training

Age Limit

• You should be between 25 and 50 years old.
• Relaxation: Age and qualification relaxation may be given if you have represented at National / Senior National level, or have other notable achievements or qualifications in sports coaching.

Salary

• You will be paid an honorarium of Rs. 28,000 to Rs. 30,000 per month, based on your qualifications and experience.
• This is a per-diem, part-time engagement. No TA/DA is paid for attending the walk-in.

Working hours are split shifts — morning 6:00 AM to 8:30 AM and evening 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, 6 days a week. Timings may change as per the requirement.

Selection Process (Walk-In)

There is no written exam. Everything happens on the day of the walk-in:

1. Reporting & Document Verification: Report at the venue by 9:30 AM on 20 July 2026 with your original certificates. Late candidates are not allowed.
2. Trial / Skill Demonstration: You show your coaching or instructor skills in your sport or area.
3. Interview / Interaction: A panel checks your suitability, qualifications and experience, and selects candidates on merit. If you coach a sport, be ready to demonstrate your coaching methods during this stage.

1. Fill the application form in the prescribed format given in the official notification, with your education and work experience details.
2. Reach the venue — M1 Sports Complex, South Campus, IIT Mandi — on 20 July 2026 and report by 9:30 AM. Late candidates are not allowed to appear.
3. Carry your updated CV, a recent passport-size photograph, and original plus self-attested copies of your academic and professional certificates.
