IIT Madras Project Associate Recruitment 2026 (Advt.124/2026)

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has released advertisement ICSR/PR/Advt.124/2026 for the post of Project Associate in the Department of Humanities and Social Science. This is a contract position with the Regional Coordinating Institute (RCI) of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, a flagship programme of the Ministry of Education. The role is initially for 3 months and can be extended based on your performance. This is a great chance for an Environmental Engineering graduate who wants to work on a national rural development mission at one of India's top institutes.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have a B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or any other equivalent degree.
• Experience: You need at least 2 years of relevant experience after your qualifying degree.
• Skills: Good communication and coordination, event management, documentation and report writing, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Meet, Google Sheets, Google Forms).
• You should also be comfortable designing posters and promotional material on Canva, creating video content, and handling social media engagement.
• You must be a citizen of India.

For SC/ST candidates, the experience requirement can be relaxed at the discretion of the Institute.

Salary

• You will get a fixed salary of Rs. 25,000 per month.
• This is a contract post and does not carry allowances, increment, or any right to permanent appointment.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in these stages:

1. Shortlisting: The Institute will shortlist candidates based on qualification, level and relevance of experience, and academic record.
2. Skill Test / Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a test and/or interview.
3. Document Verification: You must bring all original documents and a printout of your application when called.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. There is no written exam.

• Coordinate and communicate regularly with participating institutes and the National Coordinating Institute (NCI), IIT Delhi
• Organize and conduct UBA events, orientation programs, workshops, and meetings every two months
• Prepare project proposals, concept notes, reports, and other project documents
• Schedule and run online meetings on Google Meet and keep meeting records
• Manage daily email correspondence with institutes, stakeholders, and UBA authorities
• Process project bills, reimbursements, and financial papers with the accounts department
• Maintain project databases and records for reporting
• Assist in planning and running UBA activities and outreach programs
