Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, has released Advertisement No. NF/20 dated 21.05.2026 for filling up 21 regular non-teaching posts through direct recruitment. The vacancies include 4 Group B posts (Junior Engineers and PTI) and 17 Group C posts (Accountant and 11 Junior Technician disciplines). Two posts are backlog vacancies. Freshers are not eligible — every post needs at least 1-3 years of post-qualification experience.

Who Can Apply?

Junior Engineer (Civil) - PL-06:

  • B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering with at least 60% marks (or First Class)
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in CPWD/State PWD, Centrally Funded Institutions, PSU or Government Autonomous Organisations
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Construction Management software

Junior Engineer (Electrical) - PL-06:

  • B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering with at least 60% marks
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in Central/State Government, PSU or PWD
  • Experience certificate must cover at least 2 of: Power Distribution O&M, Substation Erection, Building Electrification, HVAC Maintenance, SCADA & BMS, Street Lights

Physical Training Instructor - PL-06:

  • Bachelor's degree + B.P.Ed (or 4-year B.P.Ed) with 3 years coaching experience in Cricket/Tennis/Squash/Weightlifting, OR
  • Master's in Physical Education/Sports Science with 1 year coaching experience, OR
  • Bachelor's + B.P.Ed + SAI NS-NIS coaching diploma with 1 year experience
  • Must be Senior National/Inter-university medallist in the chosen sport

Accountant - PL-04:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce or Finance (M.Com/MBA Finance/CA Inter/ICWA Inter/CA/ICWA also accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience in accounting, auditing or financial management

Junior Technician (various disciplines) - PL-03:

  • Discipline-specific B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc/Diploma/ITI with 60% marks
  • Post-qualification experience of 1-6 years depending on qualification level

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 35 years for all posts (as on the last date of application)
  • Age Relaxation: SC/ST - 5 years; OBC-NCL - 3 years (against reserved posts only)
  • PwBD (minimum 40% disability): 15 years for SC/ST; 13 years for OBC; 10 years for others (max 56 years)
  • Ex-Servicemen: As per Government of India norms
  • IIT Hyderabad employees: No age limit for regular internal candidates
  • Currently serving contractual and outsourced employees of IIT Hyderabad: 5 years or length of service, whichever is less

Salary

  • Pay Level 06 (Junior Engineer, PTI): Rs. 35,400 - Rs. 1,12,400 per month
  • Pay Level 04 (Accountant): Rs. 25,500 - Rs. 81,100 per month
  • Pay Level 03 (Junior Technician): Rs. 21,700 - Rs. 69,100 per month
  • Plus DA, HRA, Transport Allowance and other allowances as per Central Government rules

Selection Process

The selection has three stages:

  1. Submission of Online Application: Only through the IIT Hyderabad recruitment portal. Offline applications are rejected outright.
  2. Preliminary Written Test / Skill Test / Trade Test: Based on number of applications, the Institute may hold a screening Preliminary Written Test followed by a qualifying Skill/Trade Test, or just a Skill/Trade Test.
  3. Final Written Test and Document Verification: Final merit is based on the Final Written Test score. Shortlisted candidates must produce original certificates at document verification.

Responsibilities

  • Handle technical, administrative or financial duties as per the assigned post and department
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, financial records or sports facilities depending on the role
  • Assist faculty, students or administration with day-to-day Institute operations
  • Prepare reports, registers and documentation in the required format
  • Follow IIT Hyderabad's safety, audit and academic protocols
  • Operate specialised tools, software or equipment relevant to the post (AutoCAD, CNC, accounting software, sports gear, lab instruments)
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors or external agencies for procurement and maintenance work
  • Support audits, inspections and academic events held at the Institute

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

B.E./B.Tech, Bachelor's degree, Diploma or ITI in the relevant discipline (post-wise — see notification). All qualifications need at least 60% marks or First Class.

Preferred Qualification

Master's degree, AutoCAD certification, SAI NS-NIS diploma, CA/ICWA full qualification depending on the post

Required Skills

Computer office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), post-specific technical skills (AutoCAD, CNC operation, server administration, accounting software, sports coaching, laboratory instruments)

Exam Pattern

The selection has up to three stages:

  • Preliminary Written Test (screening, if held): Used to shortlist candidates when applications are very high. Qualifying nature.
  • Skill Test / Trade Test: Qualifying in nature. Tests post-specific practical skills.
  • Final Written Test: Final merit list is based only on this score.
