IISc Bengaluru has released Advertisement No. R(HR)Temp-07(I-UG)/2026 for teaching and lab-linked academic roles in the Bachelor of Science (Research) and Bachelor of Technology programmes. Who Can Apply?

Instructor Posts

• Physics: You need a Ph.D. in Physical Sciences with two years of post-Ph.D. experience.
• Humanities: You need a Ph.D. in Sociology, Political Science, History, or Economics with two years of post-Ph.D. experience. A multidisciplinary Ph.D. is preferred.
• Mathematics: You need a Ph.D. in Mathematics with two years of post-Ph.D. experience. Prior teaching or research experience is preferred.
• Aerospace Engineering: You need a Ph.D. in Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering with two years of post-Ph.D. experience.
• Mechanics & Computing: You need a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Computational Engineering, Computational Science, Mechanics & Computing, or an allied discipline with two years of post-Ph.D. experience.

Project Scientist-I Posts

• Engineering/Electronics: You need a Ph.D. or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics Engineering, or allied disciplines.
• Computer Science: You need a Ph.D. or Master's degree in Engineering/Technology in Computer Science.
• Preferred skills: Prior teaching/research experience, sound programming skills, and experience with undergraduate lab courses will help.

Other Conditions

• Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.
• Qualification date: You must have the required qualification by the last date of application.
• Less experience route: Ph.D. freshers and candidates with one year post-Ph.D. experience may be considered at Research Associate levels for applicable Instructor streams.

Age Limit

• Instructor posts: Maximum age is 35 years as on 10 July 2026.
• Project Scientist-I posts: Maximum age is 38 years as on 10 July 2026.
• Senior Instructor consideration: Candidates with more than eight years of post-Ph.D. experience may be considered up to 38 years.
• Age relaxation: Relaxation will be given as per Government of India norms, where applicable.

Salary

• Main advertised salary: Rs. 67,000 per month plus HRA for listed Instructor and Project Scientist-I posts.
• Research Associate-I route: Ph.D. freshers may be considered at Rs. 58,000 per month plus HRA.
• Research Associate-II route: Ph.D. with one year post-Ph.D. experience may be considered at Rs. 61,000 per month plus HRA.
• Senior Instructor route: Ph.D. with more than eight years post-Ph.D. experience may be considered at Rs. 1,02,000 per month plus HRA.
• Final salary decision: IISc will recommend salary based on academic qualification, relevant experience, and suitability for the position.

Selection Process

IISc will shortlist applicants and call them for an in-person interview. The institute may also conduct a written test if needed, but the PDF does not give test marks, subjects, or duration.
