IGIMS Senior Resident CTVS Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna is holding a walk-in recruitment for Senior Resident appointments in its Department of Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery. The department is at the institute's Sheikhpura campus in Patna, Bihar.
This is an ad-hoc senior residency arrangement intended to meet the department's immediate staffing needs. You would join under the short residency programme while recruitment for the full-time tenure is completed.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Tenure: The engagement is for 89 days under the ad-hoc senior residency programme, pending completion of recruitment for the full-time three-year residency.
- Reservation: Only Bihar domicile holders can claim state reservation benefits. If you are from outside Bihar, you cannot claim those benefits in this recruitment.
- Private practice: The posts are non-practising. Direct or indirect private practice, including laboratory practice, is prohibited and can lead to termination.
- Campus residence: You must stay on campus if the institute provides accommodation. If it does not, housing allowance follows the institute's rules.
- Appointment decision: A recommendation by the selection committee does not create an automatic right to appointment. The institute retains the final appointment decision.
- Changes to recruitment: The department may revise the number of openings. The Director may accept or reject applications or cancel the advertisement without giving a reason.
- Travel and conduct: The institute will not pay travel or daily allowance for attendance. Canvassing can disqualify you.

The venue is the HOD Chamber, Department of CTVS, IGIMS, Patna-14. Reporting begins at 1:00 PM; you must report by 3:00 PM, when interviews are scheduled to begin.

If you are not employed, provide a written declaration confirming that you are neither working for an organisation nor attending a course elsewhere. The notice treats this declaration separately from the employer permission needed by working applicants.

Minimum Qualification
Medical qualification included in Schedule I or II of MCI; recognised MS/DNB in General Surgery and M.Ch./DNB in CTVS as listed in the notice; registration with the Central or State Medical Council.
Age Limit
Up to 45 years (as on 07 Oct 2026)
Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- BC/EBC: 3 years
- Women of all categories: 3 years
- PwBD and government institution employees: As per Bihar government rules
