ID & BG Hospital House Staff Recruitment 2026

The I.D. & B.G. Hospital, Kolkata (under the Directorate of Medical Education, West Bengal) is hiring 10 House Staff (junior doctors) for the 2026-27 session. If you have an MBBS degree, are registered with a State Medical Council and have finished your one-year rotatory internship, you can apply. I.D. & B.G. Hospital House Staff Recruitment 2026 - 10 Posts

The Infectious Diseases & Beleghata General (I.D. & B.G.) Hospital on Beliaghata Main Road is one of Kolkata's best-known hospitals for infectious diseases and also works as a medical teaching institution. Every session it takes in House Staff to support its wards and clinical departments. For 2026-27, a total of 10 House Staff posts are open, and the selection is run by the hospital's House Staff Selection Committee under the Director of Medical Education, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal. There is no written test — a merit list is prepared from your Final MBBS marks, so fresh MBBS graduates who have just completed internship have a fair chance. The appointment runs on a contractual basis for the session (tenure normally up to 31 March).

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have passed MBBS — a medical qualification listed in the First or Second Schedule, or Part II of the Third Schedule, of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
• Registration: You must be registered with any State Medical Council of India.
• Internship: You must have completed a One Year Compulsory Rotatory Internship in a Government hospital or other recognised institution.

The hospital follows a clear preference order while preparing the list: candidates who finished internship in the current year come first, then those from the immediately previous year, and so on. West Bengal candidates are considered before applicants who passed from outside the state.

Age Limit

• Your age should not be more than 35 years, counted as on 31 March of the concerned recruitment year (as per the DME West Bengal House Staff guidelines).
• No separate minimum age is fixed — you just need to have completed MBBS and internship.

Salary

• This is a stipendiary House Staff post. The monthly stipend is paid as per DME West Bengal norms. The notice does not print the exact stipend amount.
• The appointment is on a purely contractual basis for the 2026-27 session.
• No TA (Travelling Allowance) or DA (Dearness Allowance) is paid for attending document verification or counselling.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on merit, not a written test:

1. Merit List: Your score is built from your Final MBBS marks in General Medicine, General Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology and ENT (marks above 50%, scaled to 25), plus up to 5 marks for University Honours/Gold Medals, minus up to 3 marks for chances lost — a total out of 30.
2. Shortlisting: The top 200 candidates on this merit list are called for document verification and counselling.
3. Document Verification: Held on 13 and 14 August 2026. Bring all original certificates plus one set of self-attested photocopies.
4. Counselling: Held on 20 August 2026 from 10:30 AM onwards, where posts are allotted strictly by merit. Your rank on the merit list decides which department you are placed in, and the exact venue is told to shortlisted candidates later.

You can apply in two ways, both open from 10 July 2026:

1. By post or in person: Fill the prescribed pro-forma and submit it with self-attested document copies at the Receiving & Dispatch section, Office of the Principal, I.D. & B.G. Hospital, 57 Beliaghata Main Road, Kolkata - 700010 (11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday; up to 2:00 PM on Saturday).
2. By email: Send the scanned, filled pro-forma to idbghospitalcon@gmail.com on or before the last date.
3. Write your mobile number and email ID in block letters on the form so the hospital can reach you.
4. Apply before the last date — 25 July 2026 (up to 4:00 PM). Any wrong information in the pro-forma leads to disqualification.
5. Keep a printout or copy of your submitted application and email for your own record.
