The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), an autonomous body under the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has released Advt. No. ICMR/Rectt/BMHRC/Principal/02/2026-RPCell to fill 1 Principal (Nursing College) post at its Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC). This is a Group A Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post to be filled through the Composite method — deputation or promotion — from serving Central or State Government officers. If you already hold a senior nursing education post in government service and meet the experience criteria, this is a strong opportunity to lead a nursing college attached to a major hospital and research centre.

ICMR carries out biomedical and health research through its headquarters in New Delhi and a network of 27 institutes and centres across the country, working with national and international agencies. BMHRC, Bhopal is one of these units, and as Principal you would head its nursing education programs, including the B.Sc. Nursing and M.Sc. Nursing courses.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Master of Science (Nursing) with 10 years of relevant experience.
• Desirable: Doctor of Philosophy (Nursing) is preferred, though not compulsory.
• Eligible Route: Officers of the Central Government, State Government or Union Territories holding an analogous post on a regular basis, or with 5 years of regular service in Level-11 (Rs. 67,700-2,08,700) of the pay matrix or an equivalent grade in the parent cadre or department.
• Mode of Recruitment: Composite method — Deputation or Promotion.
• Officers already working under the Central or State Government must submit a No Objection Certificate confirming they will be relieved within one month of receiving the appointment order.

Age Limit

• For appointment by deputation, your age should not exceed 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of application.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 78,800 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month under Level 12 of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Central Government rules.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Screening of Applications: ICMR will shortlist eligible candidates based on age, qualification and experience.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview by the Appointing Authority, the Director General of ICMR.
3. Document Verification

If the number of eligible candidates is very high, ICMR may apply further shortlisting criteria, generally preferring candidates with higher experience or higher educational qualification.
