ICMR-NITVAR Pune is hiring 3 Project Research Scientist posts for a short-term research project on cervical cancer screening among HIV-positive women. If you have a Post Graduate degree, MBBS, or PhD in a relevant field, you can attend the walk-in interview on 5 June 2026. The salary goes up to Rs. 80,000 per month plus HRA. These are contract posts for an initial period of 11 months.

ICMR-National Institute of Translational Virology and AIDS Research (NITVAR), Pune, formerly known as NARI, is a research institute under the Indian Council of Medical Research. It has released a notification (Advt. No. 42/NITVAR/Project Cell/2026-27) to fill 3 project posts under a research study titled "Developing and testing an optimized intervention to enhance cervical cancer screening among HIV positive women." Selection is through a walk-in interview (or a written test if more than 30 candidates turn up for any post). Freshers are not suitable here — each post needs relevant work experience.

Who Can Apply?

Project Research Scientist III (Non-Medical) — Rs. 78,000/month

• You need a Post Graduate degree in Health Science, Anthropology, Population Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, or Public Health (including integrated PG degrees) with 5 years of post-qualification experience.
• OR a PhD with 2 years of post-qualification experience.

Project Research Scientist II (Non-Medical) / Data Manager — Rs. 67,000/month

• You need a Post Graduate degree in Health Science, Anthropology, Population Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, or Public Health (including integrated PG degrees) with 3 years of post-qualification experience.
• OR a PhD.
• Knowledge of SPSS/STATA and/or Nvivo software is preferred.

Project Research Scientist II (Medical) — Rs. 80,000/month

• MBBS with 3 years of post-qualification experience, OR
• MBBS + MD/MPH (or equivalent, including integrated PG degrees), OR
• MBBS with PhD.

Persons already in regular time-scale service under any Government Department or Organisation are not eligible to apply.

Age Limit

• Project Research Scientist III (Non-Medical): Up to 45 years
• Project Research Scientist II (Non-Medical) and II (Medical): Up to 40 years
• Age will be counted as on the date of the walk-in interview (5 June 2026).
• Age Relaxation: As per ICMR guidelines.

Salary

• Project Research Scientist III (Non-Medical): Rs. 78,000 per month + HRA
• Project Research Scientist II (Non-Medical): Rs. 67,000 per month + HRA
• Project Research Scientist II (Medical): Rs. 80,000 per month + HRA
• These are consolidated amounts. No PF, pension, or other regular-staff benefits apply.

Selection Process

Selection is done in these steps:

1. Document Verification: Only candidates who meet the qualification, age, and experience criteria, and whose original documents are verified, can take part in the interview.
2. Walk-In Interview: Held on 5 June 2026 from 10.30 AM onwards. Selection is based on your performance in the interview.
3. Written Test (if needed): A written test and assignment may be held before the interview if more than 30 eligible candidates turn up for any single post.

Shortlisting is done based on educational qualifications and experience. Just meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee selection.

How to Apply

1. Download and fill the prescribed application form attached with the official advertisement on icmr.gov.in.
2. Attach a recent passport-size colour photograph and a detailed bio-data/CV.
3. Carry all original documents — mark sheets and certificates from 10th Std. onwards, experience certificates, age proof, caste certificate, and a photo ID (Aadhaar/Passport/PAN/Driving Licence) — along with one set of self-attested photocopies.
4. Reach the venue between 9.00 AM and 10.00 AM on 5 June 2026. Candidates arriving after 10.00 AM will not be allowed.

• Monitor the research study at both study sites and coordinate fieldwork
• Handle qualitative and quantitative data collection, transcription, translation, and analysis
• Manage data quality, cleaning, and processing using tools like SPSS, STATA, or Nvivo
• Train project staff and ART centre teams for surveys and data collection
• Supervise randomization, participant screening, and enrollment
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, SOPs, and study tools
• Travel to study sites in Karnataka, Belgavi, Mumbai, and Delhi for approvals and meetings
• Support dissemination workshops and prepare IEC materials and AV films for ART centres
