ICMR-NITVAR Consultant (Medical) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The ICMR-National Institute of Translational Virology and AIDS Research (ICMR-NITVAR), Pune — formerly known as NARI — works under the Indian Council of Medical Research. It has opened 1 Consultant (Medical) position for the project titled "Prevalence and Factors Associated with Oncogenic HPV among Men Having Sex with Men and Female Sex Workers". This is a walk-in interview, not an online application — experienced medical professionals and retired government doctors can attend directly. The role is purely temporary and project-based.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

• You must be a professional with proven competency in your area, with at least 12 years of post-qualification experience, and hold a minimum MBBS, BDS, BVSc or equivalent degree in the relevant subject.
• OR you can be a retired government employee who held a regular Pay Level 10 or above post and has at least 10 years of experience in the required specialization.

How Higher Degrees Count as Experience

• PhD: counts as 4 years of experience (no matter how long the degree took)
• MD / MS or equivalent: counts as 3 years of experience
• MVSc: counts as 2 years of experience
• MPH: not counted as any experience

Desirable Qualification

• Experience in cervical cytology, including PAP smear examination and interpretation
• MD (Pathology) or DCP holders will be preferred

People already in regular time-scale government service are not eligible to apply.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 40 years
• Maximum age: 70 years
• The cut-off date for age is the date of the walk-in interview (8 June 2026).
• Age Relaxation: as per ICMR guidelines.

Salary

• You will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 1,00,000 per month.
• If you are a retired government servant, the pay will be fixed as per the Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure rules (OM dated 9 December 2020).
• This is a consolidated amount — no separate PF, pension, LTC, medical claim or staff quarters apply to project positions.

Selection Process

Selection is done through:

1. Document Verification: Your original certificates (age, qualification, experience) are checked before the interview.
2. Written Test (only if needed): If more than 30 eligible candidates turn up for the post, a written test and assignment may be held before the interview.
3. Walk-in Interview: Final selection is based on your performance in the interview.

In case of a tie in marks at any stage, all candidates with the same marks move to the next round.

How to Apply

1. Fill in the prescribed application form attached to the official advertisement.
2. Attach a recent passport-size colour photograph and a detailed bio-data/CV.
3. Carry all original documents along with one set of self-attested photocopies — certificates and mark-sheets from 10th onwards, experience certificates, age proof, caste certificate and a photo ID (Aadhaar/Passport/PAN/Driving License).
4. Walk in to the Auditorium of ICMR-NITVAR, Plot No. 73, G-Block, Bhosari, Pune-411026 on 8 June 2026.
5. Report between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Anyone arriving after 10:00 AM will not be allowed in.

No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview — arrange your own travel and stay.

• Develop study protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other documents as per regulatory guidelines
• Oversee study activities and ensure they follow timelines, quality standards and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines
• Train and mentor Technical Officers and Technical Assistants on protocol adherence and data collection
• Supervise and guide the monitoring work done by the project team
• Conduct quality checks, site monitoring visits and audits to keep data and study processes accurate
• Draft and review scientific manuscripts and project reports
• Review adverse events (AEs) and serious adverse events (SAEs)
