ICMR-NIHR Project Technical Support-III Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

ICMR-NIHR has released a temporary project notification for the project titled Development and validation of CRISPR-Cas integrated Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification diagnostic test for rapid detection of antibiotic-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae. The post is for Project Technical Support-III and is marked as UR. This is a project-based position for up to one year at first, with possible extension up to project completion.

The work is linked to molecular diagnostics, antimicrobial resistance, CRISPR-Cas technology, and laboratory validation. The selected person may work at ICMR-NIHR, Jodhpur or anywhere in India as per project need. Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Graduate route: Graduate degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences, Genetics, or Life Sciences with 3 years post-qualification experience in the relevant subject.
• Postgraduate route: Postgraduate degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences, Genetics, or Life Sciences.
• Recognised institution: Your qualification should be from a recognised institution or university.
• Cut-off for eligibility: Age, qualification, and experience will be counted as on the walk-in interview/written test date.

Desirable Experience

• Diagnostics work: Experience in Klebsiella pneumoniae diagnostics and CRISPR-Cas based diagnostic work.
• AMR studies: Hands-on work in antimicrobial resistance studies, bacterial resistance profiling, or Gram-negative bacteria research.
• Molecular biology skills: Nucleic acid extraction, qPCR, multiplex PCR, LAMP, gel electrophoresis, sequencing, and genome sequence analysis tools.
• Project skills: Analytical thinking, troubleshooting experimental issues, and project management skills.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 35 years on the date of walk-in interview or written test.
• Age reference date: 14 July 2026.
• Relaxation: Age relaxation will follow Central Government, DoPT, and ICMR rules for applicable categories, departmental candidates, retrenched government employees, and ex-servicemen.
• ICMR project service condition: People who have served in ICMR projects or ICMR institutes for more than 3 years are not eligible for this walk-in.

Salary

• Monthly pay: Rs. 28,000 plus HRA per month on a consolidated basis.
• Tenure: Initially up to 1 year, extendable up to project completion based on requirement and approval.
• Benefits note: The notification says project staff will not get PF, LTC, medical, or similar regular employee benefits.

Selection Process

The selection process will happen through the walk-in interview or written test route. Only applications found suitable after document checking will move ahead.

2. Written Test, if needed: If more than 30 candidates attend, ICMR-NIHR may conduct a written test. Qualifying marks are 35% for SC/ST and 40% for UR/OBC/EWS.
3. Interview: If a written test is held, generally up to the top 5 candidates for this post will be called for interview.
4. Skill Test, wherever applicable: Final consideration is subject to qualifying the skill test where required.
5. Final Merit: If written test is held, final merit is based on written test and interview marks. If written test is not held, merit is based on interview marks.
