Who Can Apply?

Project Scientist-III (Rs. 78,000 + HRA)

• Doctoral degree in Forestry or Botany from a recognised university or equivalent
• 7 years of research experience

Project Scientist-II (Rs. 67,000 fixed)

• PhD in Forestry (Forest Genetics / Tree Improvement / Forest Biotechnology)
• Minimum 3 years research experience in forest genetics, tree improvement, or forest biotechnology, plus at least 2-3 research papers as first author in a NAAS-rated journal

Research Associate-III (Rs. 67,000 + HRA)

• Doctoral degree in Geoinformatics, OR 3 years research/teaching experience after M.Tech/M.E./M.Sc in Geoinformatics from a recognised university or equivalent

Project Associate (Rs. 25,000 fixed)

• M.Sc in Agriculture (Genetics and Plant Breeding) OR M.Sc in Forestry (Forest Genetics/Tree Improvement) - for the 2 Agriculture posts
• M.Sc in Botany/Biotechnology - for the Botany post
• M.Sc in Chemistry/Biochemistry - for the Chemistry post

Junior Project Fellow (Rs. 24,000)

• First class M.Sc in Forestry or Botany

Project Assistant (Rs. 20,000 fixed)

• Bachelor's degree in Science (Zoology, Botany, or Chemistry)

For most posts, knowledge of MS Office, statistical tools, computer applications, and GIS is desirable, and you should be willing to travel and stay in difficult terrain for fieldwork.

Age Limit

• Project Scientist-III: Maximum 45 years
• Project Scientist-II: Maximum 40 years
• Research Associate & Project Associate: Maximum 35 years
• Junior Project Fellow: Maximum 28 years
• Age is calculated as on 01 June 2026.
• Age Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST, Women, Persons with Disabilities, and OBC candidates.

Salary

• Project Scientist-III: Rs. 78,000 per month + HRA
• Project Scientist-II: Rs. 67,000 per month (fixed)
• Research Associate-III: Rs. 67,000 per month + HRA
• Project Associate: Rs. 25,000 per month (fixed)
• Junior Project Fellow: Rs. 24,000 per month
• Project Assistant: Rs. 20,000 per month (fixed)

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is done through a walk-in interview only:

1. Registration: Report between 9:00 AM and 10:15 AM on your interview date in the Board Room of FRI Main Building, Dehradun.
2. Document Check: Submit your bio-data, recent passport photo, and self-attested copies of all certificates to the office of the Group Coordinator (Research).
3. Interview: The selection panel interviews you and decides the final result.

No separate call letter will be sent, and no TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
