ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (ICAR-NBPGR) Project Scientist III & Field Worker Recruitment 2026 - 3 Posts

ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi has announced a walk-in interview for 3 posts — 2 Project Scientist III and 1 Field Worker — under the DBT-funded National Programme for Quarantine and GM Diagnostics of Genetically Engineered Plant Material. These are temporary positions, co-terminus with the project (currently running till 27 September 2026). PhD holders in life sciences and science graduates looking for research experience at a premier ICAR institute should attend. ICAR-NBPGR is the nodal institute of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, responsible for plant germplasm conservation and quarantine across the country. This particular project focuses on the quarantine and molecular diagnostics of genetically modified (GM) plant material, making it a good fit for researchers with a background in plant pathology, biotechnology, or molecular biology.

Who Can Apply?

For Project Scientist III (Rs. 78,000/month + HRA):

• Qualification: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) in Science — Plant Pathology, Entomology, Nematology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Biotechnology, Botany, Zoology, Molecular Biology, Plant Genetic Resources or Life Sciences
• Experience: Minimum 7 years of relevant research experience in industrial/academic institutions or S&T organizations
• Preferred: Experience in molecular detection of pathogens and quarantine of germplasm/transgenics, with publications in peer-reviewed journals

For Field Worker (Rs. 18,000/month + HRA):

• Qualification: Graduate degree in any discipline
• Preferred: Experience growing crops under contained conditions and basic MS Office knowledge

Age Limit

• Project Scientist III: Upper age limit is 45 years.
• Field Worker: Upper age limit is 50 years.
• Age Relaxation: As per Government of India/ICAR rules for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates.

Salary

• Project Scientist III: Rs. 78,000 per month + 27% HRA (about Rs. 99,060 total).
• Field Worker: Rs. 18,000 per month + 27% HRA (about Rs. 22,860 total).
• No TA/DA or official accommodation will be provided for attending the interview.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Candidates are selected through:

1. Walk-in Interview: Scientist candidates at 10:00 AM and Field Worker candidates at 2:00 PM on 20 July 2026.
2. Document Verification: Original certificates checked at the interview venue.
3. Medical Certificate: Required at the time of joining.

Selection is purely interview-based — there is no written test for either post.
