ICAR-IARI MOEFCC Project Recruitment 2026 - 3 Posts

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), New Delhi has invited applications for contractual positions under two MOEFCC-funded projects: "Developing scaling factors of methane and nitrous oxide emissions from rice cultivation under different management practices (MOEFCC-I)" and "GHG emission inventory from agricultural soils and rice cultivation for India's Second and Third Biennial Transparency Report (MOEFCC-II)". These are purely temporary positions on contractual basis till 31 March 2027, co-terminus with the projects.

Who Can Apply?

Research Associate (Rs. 61,000 + HRA)

• Essential: PhD in Environmental Sciences or Plant Physiology from a recognised university/institution
• Experience: Five years of research experience in greenhouse gas emission measurement from rice fields and emission factor development
• Desirable: Experience in chromatographic GHG analysis, volatilisation losses, crop modelling, and data analysis software

Young Professional-II (Rs. 42,000 consolidated)

• Essential: Master's degree (First Class) in Environmental Sciences from a recognised university/institution
• Experience: Two years of experience in GHG measurement and gas chromatographic analysis
• Desirable: Proficiency in data analysis software and soil-plant analysis

Young Professional-I (Rs. 30,000 consolidated)

• Essential: Bachelor's degree from a recognised university/institution
• Experience: At least one year of experience in GHG sampling and chromatographic analysis
• Desirable: Working experience with gas chromatograph and canopy analyser

Age Limit

• Research Associate: Maximum 40 years (as on 30 May 2026)
• Young Professional (YP-I and YP-II): Maximum 45 years (as on 30 May 2026)
• Age Relaxation for RA: 5 years for SC/ST and women; 3 years for OBC candidates

Salary

• Research Associate (MOEFCC-I): Rs. 61,000 per month + HRA (as per DST OM/PCPM/Z-06/2022 dated 26/06/23)
• Young Professional-II: Rs. 42,000 per month (consolidated)
• Young Professional-I: Rs. 30,000 per month (consolidated)
• The contract is valid till 31 March 2027, extendable if the projects are extended

Selection Process

Selection will be done through the following stages:

1. Application Screening: Only candidates with essential qualifications and necessary experience will be shortlisted
2. Online Interview: Tentatively scheduled on 25 June 2026 from 10:00 AM onwards. Shortlisted candidates will be informed by email.
3. Document Verification: Original documents will be verified at the time of appointment, along with a medical certificate from IARI dispensary

The Director, ICAR-IARI reserves the right to cancel or postpone the interview without assigning any reason.

• Analyse data using statistical software and prepare technical reports
• Support preparation of India's Biennial Transparency Reports under UNFCCC
• Assist senior scientists with crop modelling and emission inventory work
• Maintain proper records of field experiments and laboratory results
