ICAR-CIRCOT is hiring one Senior Research Fellow (SRF) for a DBT-funded research project at its Mumbai institute. ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (ICAR-CIRCOT) SRF Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (ICAR-CIRCOT), Mumbai, is recruiting one Senior Research Fellow under a project titled "Nutraceutical Profiling and Optimization of Rice-Based Low-Alcoholic Beverages from North East Regions of India: Health Implications and Commercial Potential". The project is funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) for a period of three years or till the project ends, whichever is earlier. This is a purely temporary, contractual position that is co-terminus with the project, so it suits candidates who want hands-on research experience in food biotechnology and molecular biology.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Master's Degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, microbiology or a related discipline.
• Marks: You must have First Class or at least 60% marks (or an equivalent overall GPA).
• NET condition: If you hold only a 3-year basic sciences bachelor's degree, you must have a NET qualification plus 2 years of research experience as per the Council and DST rules.

Desirable: A PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology or Life Sciences with experience in molecular biology tools will be given preference.

Nature of Work

The selected fellow will work on nutraceutical profiling and optimization of rice-based low-alcoholic beverages. You will identify and characterize bioactive compounds using HPLC, study microbial communities through molecular biology techniques, and prepare research reports. The place of work is ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai (Maharashtra), but you may need to travel anywhere in India for project-related work.

Age Limit

• Maximum age is 35 years for male candidates and 40 years for female candidates, calculated as on the closing date of application.
• Age Relaxation: 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST and 10 years for Persons with Disabilities (PH), as per Government of India rules.

Salary

• You will get a fellowship of Rs. 37,000 per month plus HRA during the first and second years.
• The fellowship rises to Rs. 42,000 per month plus HRA in the third year.
• The selected candidate is engaged initially for 12 months and continued up to the end of the project based on a performance review every 6 months.

Selection Process

Selection is through a walk-in interview held in hybrid mode:

1. Walk-in Interview: Attend in person at ICAR-CIRCOT, Matunga, Mumbai. An online interview option is available if you cannot attend physically, but you must inform the institute in advance with your application letter.
2. Document Verification: Carry your original and attested certificates for age, qualification and experience along with a recent passport photograph.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview or for joining if selected.
