The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has released the notification for the 16th Common Recruitment Process (CRP-CSA-XVI) to fill 11,403 Customer Service Associate (Clerk) posts in 11 participating Public Sector Banks, for anticipated vacancies of the financial year 2027-28. Vacancies are spread across every State and Union Territory in India, and you will be provisionally allotted to a bank based on your merit, preference and the vacancies reported. Vacancies are spread across all States and Union Territories and 11 Participating Public Sector Banks — Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab National Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, UCO Bank and Union Bank of India. You can apply for vacancies in only one State/UT of your choice. The full state-wise and bank-wise breakup, including SC/ST/OBC/EWS numbers, is given in Annexure-I of the official notification.
Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You need a Degree (graduation) in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India.
- Computer Knowledge: You must have working knowledge of computer systems — a certificate, diploma or degree in computer operations, or Computer/IT as a subject in school or college.
- Local Language: You must be able to read, write, speak and understand the local language of the State/UT you apply for (the list is in Annexure-III of the notification). You are exempt if you studied that language up to Class 10.
- Nationality: You must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from certain specified countries.
Age Limit
- You should be between 20 and 28 years old as on 1 August 2026 (born between 2 August 1998 and 1 August 2006).
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) get 3 years, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities get 10 years.
- Ex-Servicemen: Actual years of service plus 3 years (up to a maximum age of 50 years for Disabled Ex-Servicemen from SC/ST).
- Widows/Divorced/Separated Women: Age relaxation up to 35 years (General/EWS), 38 years (OBC) and 40 years (SC/ST).
Salary
- Selected candidates will get a starting basic pay of Rs. 24,050 per month, rising up to Rs. 64,480 per month over your career, under the Clerical Cadre pay scale (24050-1340/3-28070-1650/3-33020-2000/4-41020-2340/7-57400-4400/1-61800-2680/1-64480).
- You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per the rules of the Participating Bank you are allotted to.
Application Fee
- SC / ST / PwBD / Ex-Servicemen / Disabled Ex-Servicemen: Rs. 175 (inclusive of GST)
- General / EWS / OBC and all other candidates: Rs. 850 (inclusive of GST)
- Payment mode: Online only, between 1 August 2026 and 21 August 2026. Bank transaction charges are borne by the candidate.
Selection Process
The selection will be done in these stages:
- Online Preliminary Examination: 100 objective questions for 100 marks in 60 minutes (English Language, Numerical Ability, Reasoning Ability). You need to clear the cut-off in each section.
- Online Main Examination: 160 objective questions for 200 marks in 125 minutes (General/Financial Awareness, General English, Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude). Only your Main Exam score counts for the final merit list.
- Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT): A qualifying test in the local language of the State/UT you applied for, held after the Main Exam but before joining. You are exempt if you studied that language up to Class 10.
- Provisional Allotment: Based on your merit and preference, you will be allotted to one of the participating banks.
- Document Verification: You must submit original documents to the allotted bank before joining.
Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in both the Preliminary and Main exams. A reserve list of about 30% of the vacancies in each category may also be kept for future allotment within the validity period.

- Handle cash deposits, withdrawals and other over-the-counter banking transactions
- Process cheques, demand drafts and account-related paperwork
- Open new savings and current accounts for customers
- Assist customers with passbook updates, KYC documents and account queries
- Maintain accurate records of daily transactions and cash balances
- Support senior bank officers with clerical and administrative tasks
- Follow RBI guidelines and bank security procedures at all times
- Promote bank products and government schemes to walk-in customers
