About IBPS Clerk

The IBPS Clerk exam — now recruited as Customer Service Associate (CSA) — is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection once a year for clerical-cadre posts in the participating public sector banks (all major nationalised banks except SBI). Vacancies are announced state-wise, and candidates apply for one state of their choice.

Selection has two online stages. The Preliminary exam covers English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability in a one-hour composite test. Candidates clearing the sectional and overall cutoffs appear for the Main exam, which covers General and Financial Awareness, General English, Reasoning Ability and Computer Aptitude, and Quantitative Aptitude. Both stages carry negative marking for wrong answers, and there is no interview — the final merit list is prepared from Main exam scores. Provisional allotment to a participating bank follows the merit-cum-preference order.

Eligibility is a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognised university, with the age band and category relaxations specified in each year's notification. Candidates should also be proficient in the official language of the state they apply for.
