Who Can Apply?

Common Medical Eligibility

• Medical qualification: You need a recognised medical qualification listed under the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, now the National Medical Commission Act, 2019.
• Speciality qualification: You need a PG degree, post-doctoral degree, or equivalent qualification in the concerned speciality.
• Teaching experience: You need at least 3 years of teaching experience as Lecturer, Registrar, Demonstrator, or Resident after post-graduation in a recognised medical college.
• Experience date: Your qualification and experience will be checked as on the closing date of ORA.

Speciality-wise Qualification

• Medical Oncology: D.M. Medical Oncology, or MD Medicine / MD Radiotherapy / MD Paediatrics with 2 years special training in Medical Oncology.
• Radiology: M.D. or M.S. Radiology, or listed equivalent speciality qualification.
• Pathology: MD Pathology, PhD Pathology, or DSc Pathology.
• Psychiatry: MD Psychiatry / Psychological Medicine, speciality board qualification, or MD/MRCP Medicine with Diploma in Psychological Medicine.
• Paediatrics: M.D. Paediatrics, FRCP Canada with Paediatrics as special subject, or listed equivalent speciality qualification.
• Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases: M.D. Tuberculosis, or M.D./MRCP Medicine with TDD, DTD, or DTCD.
• Microbiology: M.D. Bacteriology / M.D. Microbiology, MBBS with M.Sc. Medical Bacteriology or Medical Microbiology, PhD, or DSc in the listed microbiology subjects.

Desirable Qualification

• Himachal knowledge: Knowledge of local customs, manners, and dialects of Himachal Pradesh is desirable.
• Research work: Publications in indexed journals are desirable for these teaching posts.

Age Limit

• Maximum age is 45 years and below.
• Age will be counted as on 1 January 2026.
• Age relaxation: Bonafide SC / ST / OBC / WFF / PwD candidates of Himachal Pradesh can get up to 5 years relaxation where the category is applicable.
• Government employees and ex-servicemen: Relaxation will be as per Himachal Pradesh Government rules.

Salary

• Assistant Professor (Medical Oncology): Rs. 1,29,700 per month at Cell-1, Level-30.
• Other six Assistant Professor posts: Rs. 37,400 to Rs. 67,000 per month plus Grade Pay of Rs. 8,900.
• Allowances: DA, HRA, TA, and other allowances will apply as per Himachal Pradesh Government rules.

Selection Process

The HPPSC selection process has written papers followed by a Personality Test. For these teaching posts, the Commission will use the method given in the detailed advertisement.

1. Paper-I Screening Test: CBT or offline objective test of 1 hour for 100 marks. It covers Himachal Pradesh GK, national/international GK, Hindi, and English.
2. Paper-II Subject Aptitude Test: Descriptive test of 3 hours for 120 marks in the concerned subject.
3. Document Scrutiny: HPPSC will check uploaded documents and category-wise eligibility before the next stage.
4. Personality Test: Interview of 30 marks at HPPSC office, Shimla.

Negative marking applies in Paper-I objective tests. For a wrong answer, more than one answer, or a blank answer, 0.25 marks of that question will be deducted. Final ranking will use Paper-II marks plus Personality Test marks.
