The Directorate of Fire Services, Himachal Pradesh is hiring 42 Fireman (Prashamak) trainees for its Fire Services Department. If you are a Himachal Pradesh Home Guard or an Ex-Serviceman who has passed 10+2 and completed the required fire training, you can apply offline. The Directorate of Fire Services, Himachal Pradesh, Shimla has released Advertisement No. Ro. No. 0727/2026-2027 for 42 Fireman (Prashamak) posts in the Group-C, Non-Gazetted cadre. These posts are being filled batch-wise, on a job-trainee basis — selected candidates spend their first 2 years in practical training within the department under the trainee policy. This recruitment is not open to the general public — only Himachal Pradesh Home Guards or Ex-Servicemen who have already completed the department's Elementary Fire Course are eligible to apply, so this is a targeted recruitment drive for candidates already inside the state's fire and home guard system.

Category-wise Vacancy Breakdown

  • General Category: 24 posts (General – 15, EWS – 5, Freedom Fighters' Dependents – 1, Ex-Servicemen – 3)

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You must have passed 10+2 from a recognized education board, or hold an equivalent qualification. A First Class Certificate of the Army is also accepted in place of 10+2.
  • Home Guard / Ex-Serviceman: You must currently be a member of the Himachal Pradesh Home Guards, or be an Ex-Serviceman.
  • Training Required: You must have completed the Home Guard Basic Training Course and the Elementary Fire Course conducted by the HP Fire Services Department. Your batch must fall within the limit set for your category — mostly the 90th batch or earlier for General and SC candidates, and the 105th batch or earlier for EWS, OBC, ST, Ex-Servicemen and BPL sub-categories.
  • Domicile: You should have passed your 10th and 10+2 examinations from a school or institution located in Himachal Pradesh. This condition does not apply if you are a permanent resident (domicile) of Himachal Pradesh.
  • Certificate Timing: Your category certificate must have been issued on or before the date you submit your application — certificates issued after that date will not be accepted.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 18 and 45 years old as on 01 January 2026, if you are applying under the General category.
  • Age Relaxation: SC, ST, and OBC candidates get age relaxation as per the general and special orders issued by the Himachal Pradesh Government from time to time.

Salary

  • Selected candidates will get a fixed monthly pay of Rs. 12,120 during the 2-year job-training period.

  • Minimum Height: 165 cm
  • Chest (without expansion): 80 cm
  • Chest (with expansion): 85 cm
  • Minimum Weight: 52 kg

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written test for this recruitment. Selection happens in two stages:

  1. Application Screening: The department reviews every application received by 10 September 2026, 5:00 PM, checking that all required documents and self-attested certificates are attached.
  2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must appear in person, with their original certificates and one self-attested photocopy of each, starting 21 September 2026 at 10:00 AM at the office of the Director General-cum-Director, Fire Services, HP, Shimla-171002. No separate call letter or notice will be sent — you must check your eligibility and attend on this date yourself.

  5. Alternatively, email your self-attested application and documents to fire-hp@nic.in by 9 September 2026, 5:00 PM — email applications close a day earlier than physical submissions.

  • Respond quickly to fire and rescue emergency calls
  • Operate firefighting equipment, hoses, and pumps at incident sites
  • Assist in evacuating people from fire-affected buildings and vehicles
  • Maintain fire tenders, hoses, and rescue equipment in ready condition
  • Follow safety protocols during firefighting and rescue operations
  • Participate in mock drills and fire safety awareness programs
  • Report incident details and maintain daily duty records
  • Support senior fire officers during major fire and disaster operations
