The High Court of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, has released Advertisement Notice No. DJ-ADVT./2026(1) inviting Online Recruitment Applications (ORA) for 388 clear-cut and anticipated vacancies on the Establishment of District Judiciary across Himachal Pradesh, as per the HP District Judiciary Staff (Recruitment, Promotion, Control, Conduct, Discipline and Other Conditions of Service) Rules, 2022. Posts are filled through Regular, Contractual, and Daily Wages modes depending on category and post. This is one of the largest court recruitment drives in Himachal Pradesh this year, spanning administrative, clerical, technical, and support roles.

Vacancy Breakdown by Post

The Clerk post has 84 Regular and 57 Contract vacancies. Stenographer Grade-III has 48 Regular and 31 Contract vacancies. Driver has 4 Regular and 5 Daily Wages vacancies. Process Server has 61 Regular, 1 Contract, and 3 Daily Wages vacancies. Group-D (Peon/Orderly/Chowkidar/Safai Karamchari) has 69 Regular and 20 Daily Wages vacancies. Court Manager has 5 Regular vacancies.

Who Can Apply?

Court Manager (Pay Level-16, Rs. 48,700-1,54,300):

• Graduation in any stream with a Master's in Business Administration from a UGC-recognized university.
• 3 years' experience in Process Management, IT Systems Management, HR Management, or Financial Management.
• Desirable: Good knowledge of legal affairs and computer applications.

Clerk (Pay Level-03, Rs. 20,200-64,000):

• Graduation from a recognized university with basic computer knowledge (Windows, Linux, typing, printing).
• You must qualify a typing test at 30 WPM in English and 25 WPM in Hindi (Kruti Dev-10 font).

Stenographer Grade-III (Pay Level-06, Rs. 25,600-81,200):

• Graduation degree from a recognized university.
• You must clear a Stenography Test at 80 WPM in English and a Typing Test at 40 WPM English / 30 WPM Hindi.

Driver (Pay Level-05, Rs. 21,300-67,800):

• Matriculation from a recognized board.
• A valid LMV driving license held for at least 3 years, with 3 years of driving experience. Preference goes to candidates with good mechanical knowledge.

Process Server (Pay Level-1, Rs. 18,000-56,900):

• 10+2 pass from a recognized board.

Group-D — Peon/Orderly/Chowkidar/Safai Karamchari (Pay Level-1, Rs. 18,000-56,900):

• 10+2 pass from a recognized board.

Local requirement: Group-C post candidates must have passed Matriculation, 10+2, or Graduation, and Group-D candidates must have passed Middle, Matriculation, or 10+2 from a school/institution within Himachal Pradesh. This does not apply to Bonafide Himachalis.

Age Limit

• Age is counted as on 1 January 2026.
• Unreserved (UR) and EWS candidates: between 18 and 45 years for all posts except Court Manager.
• Reserved categories of HP (SC/ST/OBC/PH) and HP Government employees: between 18 and 50 years for all posts except Court Manager (5 years' relaxation applies only to bonafide SC/ST/OBC and PH candidates of HP where the post is reserved for them).
• Court Manager: between 25 and 35 years for all categories.

Salary

• Court Manager: Rs. 48,700 - Rs. 1,54,300/month (Pay Level-16).
• Clerk: Rs. 20,200 - Rs. 64,000/month (Pay Level-03) for Regular posts; Contract posts get wages fixed by the HP Government from time to time.
• Stenographer Grade-III: Rs. 25,600 - Rs. 81,200/month (Pay Level-06) for Regular posts; Contract posts get wages fixed by the HP Government.
• Driver: Rs. 21,300 - Rs. 67,800/month (Pay Level-05) for Regular posts; Daily Wages posts get wages fixed by the HP Government.
• Process Server: Rs. 18,000 - Rs. 56,900/month (Pay Level-1) for Regular posts.
• Group-D (Peon/Orderly/Chowkidar/Safai Karamchari): Rs. 18,000 - Rs. 56,900/month (Pay Level-1) for Regular posts.

Selection Process

The selection process varies by post:

1. Screening Test / Written Test: Applies to Clerk, Stenographer Grade-III, Driver, and Process Server posts.
2. Skill Test: Typing Test (Clerk), Stenography + Typing Test (Stenographer Grade-III), or Driving Proficiency Test (Driver).
3. Written Test & Viva-voce: Applies to Court Manager post.
4. Merit-Based Shortlisting: Group-D (Peon/Orderly/Chowkidar/Safai Karamchari) candidates are shortlisted in a 1:3 ratio based on 10+2 marks (out of 85) plus 15 marks for document evaluation — no written exam for this post.
